Chapter 1
--Zephyr's POV--I refused to let my fear show. I stood up and tried to see past the light that was nearly blinding everyone in the room. I made out four tall figures, three male and one female as far as I saw. Their faces, hidden. I looked around, trying to spot my dad's face in the bright room, yet my eyes stung from the light and I was forced to close them. I opened my left eye and the four figures had disappeared. The light waned and soon everything was back to normal. Everyone, even the demon girl Thorn looked stricken. The demon leader stood up and was about to speak when- "BANG." That was all I heard. The stillness in the room was almost too perfect. Quietness rippled through the people. Thorn's serious expression cracked as Grace let out a small scream.
It took me a moment to see what was going on, but then I saw.. all the demon council members where pinned against the wall with an imaginary force and floating swords; clearly angle craft; where pointing at their necks. Thorn narrowed her eyes at all of us and her father, the representative, spoke up. "Was this all planned? A trap? This was supposed to be a day that lacked battle." He unsheathed his sword, but Thorn whispered something in his ear and he hesitated. "Do you really want war?" She asked. The angel representative stood up with a concerned expression. "We didn't plan this, I assure." He said calmly. "Then free the members." Thorn's father said coldly. The angel representative strides confidently to the members and tried to pull the swords away, but as if the opposite, they shot forward.
--Thorns POV--
"NO!!" I shouted unable to keep it in. I didn't care for most of the council members who now had a sword wound one way or another. It was Ash I was worried about. I rushed over there to his side and tried pulling the sword out despite my fathers warnings. It wouldn't budge, and kept burning my claws/hands. I forgot that it was a holy sword for angels, not demons. I looked at Ash who was now looking back still semi conscious. "Thorn..Its n-no use.." He murmured weakly looking at the sword wound on his right wing. No matter what our best healers tried, he wouldn't ever be able to fly again..He would become a bit like a cripple. At least it was his wing not his neck..right?. I looked at him quietly before standing up and walking towards the angel representative. "Thorn!" My father shouted as if telling me to leave it be. I won't leave it be, my friend would become a cripple! Do you know what they do to cripples? They're called weak,Taken as slaves in the Pit. Cripples are basically the equivalent to fallen angels in Luxor. Sure Ash could handle himself but still. I took a deep breath and tried to calm myself, no use. Every second my hatred for this man was growing.
"What did you do?" I demanded venom seeping into every word. He merely laughed."You demons really are pathetic!" The man said in a smooth voice. "This was supposed to be a day that lacked battle" he imitated my father before returning his normal manner. "Bla bla bla, you demons don't deserve to live in Mirabel with the others. You belong in h*ll in fact, you don't even belong there,From this day ALL demons will be seeked and eradicated from the face of this planet. Starting with you two. What better way to prove angels are superior then killing their representative and his daughter?" The angel representative said. He was insane. He hoped to kill ALL of us?"You'll never get away with this!" I snapped back.He merely laughed again "Oh but I will my dear child" he replied before snapping his fingers and disappearing with a bang as a few..arch angels came?!. He was really getting serious. With our council down it was just me and my father, I smirked a bit waiting for the battle to begin.
