The Reaction
(I tried to find a photo of Shoto crying, but this was all I got)(Y/N) still hasn’t woken up. The doctors say that there’s nothing physically wrong with her, she’s just asleep.
Hopefully not for too long.
“Are you sure?” I ask again, the doctor sighs.
“Yes,” He replies, “There is nothing wrong with her, she’s just sleeping.”
The doctor sets his clipboard down and puts his hands on my shoulders, “It’s only been two days. You said her quirk requires energy. Perhaps she just used too much of her energy. She’ll wake up, I can promise you that.”
I sigh, slowly nodding and deciding to believe the man. I approach (Y/N)’s sleeping body, lightly touching her hands and placing a kiss on her forehead. She stirs in her sleep, turning towards me with a smile. I find a warm smile on my face. I move her hair from her face, smiling at the peaceful look. I sit down in the cool, empty chair beside her bed. She doesn’t stir as I stare at her.
“I wonder if you can hear me,” I mutter, scratching the back of my neck, “I know that we haven’t really talked about getting into a relationship together, but I need you to know this. I’ve never felt this way towards anyone before,” I take her hands in mine, “I love you (Y/N)-chan. I love your passion, personality, everything. I love you . Everywhere I go, no matter what I do, I can’t stop thinking about you. Please, wake up. For me, for our classmates. For the world . They need you, I need you. You’re all I want, okay? I don’t care how long it takes. Please wake up. I-I love you...so much.”
Despite trying my hardest not to cry, tears rush down my face. I hiccup as it gets harder and harder to breathe and my tears obscure my vision. Eventually, the door opens. I glance up to see Midoryia, Uraraka, Kirishima and Tsu. I rush to wipe my eyes to hide the tears but Midoryia as well as Uraraka also start crying.
They rush over, hugging me tightly.
“I’m sorry!” Midoryia cries, “It’s my fault that she’s still asleep. I wasn’t strong enough to even protect myself and she had to protect me. She fought hard. She saved Eri and in turn me. She saved us all .”
“She’s got to wake up,” Uraraka says, “I know it.”
Tsu ribbits, “Well the doctor’s said that nothing’s actually wrong with her. She’s just sleeping.”
“She’ll wake up,” I repeat, “She has to.”
I spend the entire day at the hospital. Eventually, Tsu, Uraraka, Midoryia and Kirishima leave one-by-one to do their own thing. They ask if I’d like to come help for the School Festival but I can’t. I can’t concentrate with (Y/N) like this. I need her there with me. I want her to see it. Please let her see it. Please .
I beg you .
I glance over at the (H/C)-haired teen. She looks so peaceful, like an angel. Suddenly, as I’m calmly staring at her sleep, she begins convulsing. I instinctively get up, pushing the nurse button and rushing to (Y/N)’s side.
Doctors and nurses come, panicked, rushing to get her in control. My heart lurches each time she flinches.
“We need you to leave sir,” One of them states, “We must do our best to focus on getting her back.”
Despite what my heart says, I nod and exit the room. A few moments later, the room quiets down and my heart’s speed slows as well. She’s okay .
“Sir, you’re welcome to enter again.”
I thank the nurse, walking past her and entering (Y/N)’s room. I turn my back, shutting the door behind me.
“I’m glad you’re okay,” I mutter, “Hopefully you wake up before the School Fest-”
(Y/N) sits up intently, staring up at me. I nearly pass out from shock. I blink a few times, secretly pinching myself to make sure it isn’t a dream. She giggles at my reaction.
“How long have I been asleep?”
“It’s only been two days..” I reply, “I was just..worried. Did you- did you happen to hear anything while asleep?”
She shakes her head, “Nope. I don’t think so.”
Although my heart hurts, maybe it’s for the best. Maybe I’m pushing too fast. I doubt she wants to get in a relationship while we’re trying so hard to be pro heroes. It’d probably stress her out.
“Anything I missed?”
I shake my head, “Not really. The school festival is now being prepared for. It’s happening in another month.
“Are you okay?” She continues, “You seem tired.”
I glance out the window, “Yeah, just fine.”
She rolls her eyes, I notice from the corner of my eye a cut across her left arm. It must’ve been from the Overhaul fight, maybe before the camera was on her.
“I’m going to go let the staff know you’re awake.”
After I get the doctors and nurses in, they ask me to leave again so they can talk privately with (Y/N). I sit in the waiting room when I hear familiar voices arguing. I glance up to see (Y/N)’s parents heading straight towards her room.
Instinctively, I stand up. I step in-between them and the door to the room.
“They’re busy,” I say, “Even I’m not allowed to go in. Much less parents that abandoned her.”
The two pause, looking me up and down before realizing who I am.
“Move out of our way.” Her father hisses.
“No,” I reply simply, “I will not.”
Her mother suddenly bursts out crying. I can tell that it’s fake because there are no actual tears. She’s fake crying.
A nurse practically drops everything and rushes over, “Ma’am, what’s wrong?”
“This boy won’t let us see our daughter! She’s dying .”
The nurse is thankfully one of the few who knows (Y/N)’s condition and her parental situation. She looks at me, I stare back at her with concern. She nods.
“Ms. (L/N) does not wish to see you two anymore,” The nurse states, “Anyhow, she’s in the middle of tests with the doctors. Even if she wanted to see you, you wouldn’t be allowed in. So, if you would, please leave.”
Stunned, (Y/N)’s parents glance at each other, deciding whether or not to continue. The two turn away, giving me a glare before continuing down the hallway. The nurse glances at them before turning back to me.
“She’s allowed to leave soon, just give her a few more moments.”
So I sit in the waiting room, watching news broadcasts discuss Genkina, the future of heroes as a whole and how the world reacted to the Overhaul fight. The reported stands in the middle of the sidewalk talking about this until a random woman who seems to be in her late 30’s grabs the microphone, quickly speaking into it before it can be taken back.
“Genkina has to wake up! She’s our only hope to wipe out the villains!”
Before the woman can continue, the broadcast cuts out. Seconds later, I hear a familiar voice.
“Catching up on Game of Thrones?” She jokes, “You were sucked into that news broadcast.”
I practically jump off the chair, turning to face her. She dawns a casual outfit and I now notice that her skin looks healthier and her eyes are brighter than ever.
“Let’s go back to UA.”
A few moments later, (Y/N) and I enter the UA dorms. Class 1-A and 1-B sit in the common room together.
As I shut the door behind us, the two classes stare at (Y/N). Eri sits in the middle of Midoryia and Kirishima. She rushes over at the sight of her hero.
(Y/N) bends down, patting the small girl’s head, “Hey, Eri-chan.”
The girl smiles, “Thank you so much for saving me!”
“It’s alright, there’s no need to thank me. I’m a hero, that’s what we do.” She kisses Eri on the forehead as the rest of class 1-A and 1-B welcome her back to UA High.
