I wake up in a hospital room. I'm kind of dizzy and light-headed. I'm wearing a white nightgown. I stand up, then walking over to a door that was across the room. I look into the mirror, my face pale and my hair messy. I close the door and do my business. I wash my hands, then return to my bed and sit down. I hear the door open, a nurse walks in.
"Maddie Maddox,  how are you doing?" She asks. I just glare at her.
"I know you don't want to be here, but it's probably only for a short while. Anyways, a friend has come to see you, do you want them to come in?" She says sweetly.
"I don't know... I guess" I say. She nods and leaves the room. A few moments later, Ms. Perison and Zara walk in. I shiver, my hands getting shaky. I don't want to see them right now. Zara sits down on my bed beside me. Ms. Perison stands in place.
"How are you doing?" Ms. Perison asks.
"Why am I here?" I ask.
"We think you should see some professionals, so you can get better" Ms. Perison says slowly.
"It's okay Maddie" Zara says.
"Don't talk to me. I never did anything. What I said yesterday was a lie so you would leave me alone" I lie. She doesn't say anything. She just sits there tensely. I glare at her, making her uncomfortable.
"Now Maddie, we know. It wasn't you... We still don't know whats happening" She says.
"Where's Arianna?" I ask. Zara freezes. Ms. Perison looks down.
"Arianna was found dead after you left. We think she committed suicide" Ms. Perison. I feel tears welling up in my eyes. I sit there feeling numb, then the tears fall. Zara hugs me. I get mad and jump up.
"Don't touch me!" I yell. "She was my friend! Maybe she did it because you made her too jealous!" I snarl, wedging myself into the corner.
"Maddie, no. That wouldn't have been it. She was really stressed, not because of you. And it's only a guess. I'm sorry" Ms. Perison says. I cry in the corner, my nose is getting runny.
"Is this the hospital where dad is?" I ask.
"Yes but-" Ms. Perison started to say, but I run out of the room before she finishes what shes saying. I sprint down the halls, heading straight for dad's room. There's nurses chasing me, but I'm too fast for them. I run down the staircase, tripping on a step and flying down the stairs, hitting my head on the side of the wall. I pass out. A bit of blood bleeding down the wall. A nurse runs down the stairs, pulling on my arm and screaming for assistance. A doctor comes to help.
I wake up in my room. I put my hand on my forehead and feel the gauze that's wrapped around my head. I stand up and walk over to the door. It's locked. They don't trust me... Like Arianna and dad stopped trusting me. I sigh and sit back down on my bed. I lay down for a nap.
Later a nurse walks in, waking me up.
"I brought you some lunch. Are you okay?" She asks. I glare at her. She sets the plate of food on my lap.
"My dad, he's here... Can I see him?" I ask.
"He's the one in the coma?" She says. I nod.
"I don't think so" she says.
"I just want to see him, talk to him" I whine.
"I said no. You need rest, now please have something to eat" she says and leaves the room. I look down and pick up the fork. I pick at my food, lame mac and cheese. Are they serious? Hospitals always make this, its gross. I eat a little bit, then put the rest on a table next to me. I walk up to the window and stare at the streets below. I sigh and sit and wait. I walk up to the door, its unlocked. I open the door and walk down the halls. I make my way to the ICU and walk into a room, thinking it was dad's room. It wasn't. I step out and a doctor finds me.
"You're Maddie Maddox, correct?" He says. I nod.
"Well I'm your doctor. You should be in your room resting" he says.
"Where's my father?" I whisper. He doesn't say anything, grabbing my hand and taking me back to my hospital room.  I try to resist, not wanting to move.
"Where's my father?!" I yell. He waits calmly.
"He is still in a coma, darling. We don't know when he'll wake up. Just come with me" he says, relaxed. I sigh. He takes my hand and walks me up to my room. He walks in the room with me, closing the door behind him. I sit down on my bed. He walks over to me and pulls up a chair and sits on it.
"I just want to go home" I say, frowning.
"I know. But you need help. You're going a little crazy. But the doctors here, including me, can help you get better again" he says.
"I want to go home" I snarl.
"Maddie, stop. You're staying here for a little while.... Anyways, I have a question for you. You will not get in trouble, Did you kill Alison?" He says seriously.
"....No" I lie. He sighs and slumps down in the chair.
"Tell the truth, like I said, nothing will happen to you if you say you did. Did you kill Alison" he says slowly and calmly.
"No" I say, tensing up, my hands getting sweaty. He leans in closer to me.
"I'm going to ask one more time" he said, starting to get serious. "Did you kill Alison"
I feel tears welling up in my eyes, I don't say anything. I think the doctor can see my eyes getting watery, so he waits patiently. I try to fight back the tears, also trying to look normal, but I can't. Tears fall from my eyes. He smirks.
"I didn't mean to! It was an accident!" I cry out and run into the bathroom, locking myself in. The doctor slowly stands up and walks over and knocks on the door.
"Maddie...." he says. I stare into the mirror, looking at my reflection, terrified.
"Maddie, its okay, come out" the doctor says. I continue to stare into the mirror. He walks back over to the chair and waits.
Minutes later, I come out. My eyes red and my hands shaky. I lay down on my bed.
"Maddie, what happened. What did you do to her?" He asks calmly. I sit up.
"It was an accident!" I yell.
"I know... What did you do?" He asks.
"I stabbed her with a pen.... It was an accident! She was threatening me! She was always bullying and threatening me. My.... My anger took over" I say, wiping my eyes.
"Was it your anger, or was it you? Were you in control?" He asks seriously.
"I.... I don't know" I say.
"Alright. Well, I think you should get some rest. I'll be back later" he says and leaves the room. I sigh and lay down. I hope nothing will happen to me. I'm scared. I shift to get more comfortable and fall asleep.
