I slowly wake up. A teacher is telling us to get up and go to breakfast. I moan. Arianna giggles and gently hits me with her pillow. I sit up and hit her with my pillow and we have a pillow fight, but the teacher, Mrs. Devie, my English teacher, yells at us and tells us to stop and to get dressed. I sigh and get my uniform on. I hate this stupid uniform. I don't really like skirts, I always worn jeans or tights, never skirts or dresses. I go to the bathroom, after I was done I brush my teeth and brush out my hair. I take one of my pills as well. One of Alison's friends walk in and glare at me. I just ignore her and leave, then go to the lunchroom for breakfast. I pick up a tray, some girl bumps into me on purpose and giggles. I stare at her, then ignore it. I grab some eggs and bacon, then sit with Arianna at our normal table. Then I start hearing people whispering, they're talking about me, and how I choked Alison.
"I really don't wanna go to class today" I moan.
"Neither do I, but we have to. Even if you tried to skip, one of the staff here would find you. Plus, the teachers would be really mad" Arianna says. I take a heavy sigh.
"What do they do if your sick?" I ask.
"They take you to the nurse, and if you are actually sick they let you rest in your bed all day. Bu there is no use trying to pretend to be sick, they never ever fall for it. Trust me, I've tried" she says.
"The teachers here seem like geniuses" I say.
"They technically are" she replies. We finish breakfast and hurry to our classes. I sit down in my seat.
"Okay class, today we are going to start brainstorming on what you're going to do for our novel essay" Mrs. White explains. Great, an essay. I've only been here for a few days and we have an essay to do. Ugh. I tried to start writing, but I didn't know what to do. I pull out my cellphone during class for the first time.
"Ms Maddox!! No cellphones or other devices during class! Ever!" The teacher yells.
"Sorry" I say quietly.
"Go put it away, or I will take it away, and you can't get it back till classes are done!" she yells. I slip it back into my pocket.
I went to art after that, I sat with Arianna, it was boring because the teacher was teaching about boring famous artists, like Leonardo DaVinci and the Group Of Seven and all that. Then she gave us a pop quiz about them. I'm not sure if I did well. That was a boring hour and a half. See, instead of classes usually being an hour, its an hour and a half. So, not only you have to live at school, but there is longer school classes. I dislike that a lot.
The rest of the classes were very boring, there are already many assignments and tests due. Its pretty annoying. I didn't even want to go to class, and all the classes were busy and boring. By the time the last class was over, I was exhausted. I hurry back to the bedroom and lay down on my bed. I almost fall asleep, but Ms. Perison walks into the room and comes over to me.
"Maddie?" She says and sits down on the edge of my bed. I sit up next to her.
"What is it?" I say quietly, looking at her.
"How are you doing?" She asks, running her hand through her long black hair.
"I... I still don't think I like it here. I say honestly.
"Oh, why not?" She asks.
"The teachers are strict, there's too much school work, I only have one friend, I hate Alison, I don't really like the lunchroom food, I don't like living away from home, I'm homesick. This is all too much for me" I say sadly.
"I'm sorry, Maddie, is there something I can do to help?" She asks.
"I don't know," I say, putting my head against my hands. "I'm just really stressed" I say.
"That's understandable. If there's anything you need, just tell me" She says, standing up and leavng the room. I lay down again. Then Arianna walks in.
"I was looking for you Maddie. Um, are you okay?" She asks. I shake my head and curl up on my bed.
"I'm sorry" she says. I sniffle.
"Arianna, I just want to go home. I miss my own room, I miss my dad" I say quietly.
"Sorry Maddie" she says, sitting down on my bed.
"I just want to see my Dad" I say. She puts her arm around my shoulder.
"Why don't you call him then?" She suggests.
"I don't know" I say quietly. She stands up, and goes and sits on her bed, taking out a textbook to start studying.
I pull out my cellphone and call the home number.
"Hello?" Aunt Lisa picks up.
"Can I talk to Dad?" I ask.
"He's busy" she says.
"Please Lisa, let me talk to him" I whine. She grumps, then hands the phone to Dad.
"Hey sweetheart" Dad says.
"Dad, I want to come home" I whimper.
"Maddie, please, you're fine baby. You don't need to come home" Dad says.
"Dad, I really miss you" I say, starting to feel really sad, my heart starting to sink. Arianna just watches me.
"I miss you too, honey" Dad says.
"Then why don't you let me come home?" I whine.
"Honey, please, I know you are getting a good education there, please, just stay a little longer, I want you to try to like this school" Dad says.
"The teachers are too strict, we do really hard quizzes. Daddy, I'm really stressed" I say.
"It's alright honey, just hold on. I want you to stay at the school for a little while longer, then if you sill don't like it there, then I will think about it" Dad says.
"Fine" I say.
"I love you" Dad says.
"I love you too" I say.
"Bye" Dad says.
"Bye" I say sadly and hang up.
Arianna looks at me, then we jump, suddenly hearing tons of screaming. Arianna and I follow the screams...
