Chapter 5 - The Marking

                I watch Skylar's cube disappear and I jump up and catch her. I carry Skylar back to Ziana and she leads me to Skylar's room and I set her down on her bed and walks back to the living room and Ziana is leaning against the counter in the kitchen and says "I guess the rumors are true.". I smile and say "I guess so.". Ziana smiled and tosses me my phone. "How did you get this?" I questioned. "I took it while you were unconscious." she replied. "Well why did you take it?" I asked. "Because I can." she said then walked away and stopped and said "You can stay as long as you want just abide by our rules." then she continued to her room and I call Luna and tell her what happened.

                *In the past*

                I wake up in the den and I look around and I notice it has snowed outside and I wag my tail and run outside to play in the snow. As I played I saw my mother watching me from the den and she was smiling. I sit down and tilt my head and she gets up and walks out of the den to play with me. I jump up onto my mother's back and looked around and she smiled and said "Hang on.". She started walking towards the rest of the pack and I laid down on her back and tried to hide in her fur but it's no use due to my orange fur.

                The pack gives me and my mother looks of confusion and some hatred. My mother keeps walking until we get to the top of a tall rock then my mother gets me off her back and sets me down in front of her and waits for the pack to gather around. Once the pack gathers around my mother begins speaking and says "Everyone. I have an announcement. This fox pup you see before you is my new son. As you all know, I am unable to have pups of my own. That's why I've adopted him. If I find out any of you hurt my son, You will regret it.". My mother picked me up and put me on her back and said "Prepare the marking ceremony.".

                My mother carries me off the tall rock and stood in front of it and picked me off her back and set me down in front of her then she sat down and I looked around and some wolves with a bowl and a tool of some kind in their mouths walked to me and my mother gently nudged my fore paw and I slowly raised it. The wolf with the bowl set the bowl down and the one with the tool dipped the tool in the bowl and I notice the tool started glowing bright blue then they slowly pressed the tool against my fore paw and I whimper in pain and my mother nuzzled me. I closed my eyes until they removed the tool from my fore paw.

                I opened my eyes and looked at my fore paw and I saw a blue mark on my fore paw that resembled looked like a wolf paw. soon the pain subsided and I looked up at my mother and she smiled and showed me her mark that was the same as mine. She picked me up and put me on her back and stood up and carried me to the den and I fell asleep on the way. Later on when I woke up it was dark out and my mother was curled around me and she nudged me to get my attention. I looked at her and she said "I've finally figured out a name for you.". I tilted my head in confusion then she asked "How does Amaze sound?"
