“Ladies first!” Shouts the reaping lady. (You did not bother to learn her name)“Ruby!” She shouts. Of course it was you. I did promise you'd be in the games, didn't I?
You walk up.
Nobody volunteers because all the female 18 year old careers who are ready for the Games are dead (how convenient)
Then they draw the name of your best friend: “Silver”
Shiny steps up to volunteer.
Aw man. You wanted to die together!
When Shiny gets up to the stage, you shake his hand.
Without thinking, you shout, “The odds are ever in our favor!”
Your entire district applauds you (and Shiny).
