The truth
“You have stolen a lot of stuff. You will be grounded for stealing everything. You will not be able to go outside or play for a while. And you will need to apologize to everyone you stole from in person. Do you understand me Faith?” Peeta said in a calm but strict voice. “Yes sir. But I want to say sorry to some of the…” “I just want a yes or no answer.” Peeta said getting annoyed. “Yes sir” I said very sad.I may have done wrong but I could change what I’ve done and try to be better tomorrow. Peeta know I wanted to change and so did Katniss. And they decided to help me do the right thing. They also decided to take me in as their daughter. So I thought I could try to be who they know I can be. It’s time to start taking the opposite path than I have been taking.
“Faith, it’s time for bed.” Peeta yelled looking for me. I didn’t answer him because I was still mad about him interrupting me. “Faith! Faith, answer me! Faith!” Peeta yelled again. After 30 minutes he finally found me. Peeta was mad that I hid on him. I was still a little scared about being in their house. “Come on Faith it’s past your bed time.” Peeta said aggregated.
I know he had me trapped but I still tried to get away. And I must say, I will NEVER try to get away from Peeta again. Peeta grabbed my arm to keep me from running. “I do not think you will want to try that again.” Peeta said through his teeth. I didn’t know what to do. I gave up, again, to Peeta. I didn’t want him to be even more made at me than he already was.
Relontlicly I followed him to a bedroom. He had something on the bed. I looked at him, and he could tell I was scared. “I thought you were going to behave. But you didn’t so you can wait to get your present I got you tonight. Doesn’t that seem right to you, Faith.” Peeta said calmly. I nodded trying to fight back the tears. But I no longer could keep them back. I wanted my life to be a good one but I was not on to a good start.
I ran into Peeta’s arms and cried. Peeta keep his arms around me trying to calm me down. “Sssshhhh…. It’s alright. You don’t have to worry any more. Katniss and I are going to take care of you. It’s alright. You don’t have to cry any more. We’re here for you Faith. We’re here for you.” Peeta said in a low calm voice like he where trying to get a wounded animal out of the bushes.
And it worked. I stopped crying but I wouldn’t let go of Peeta. Afraid that he might get hurt like my family did. After a while I fell asleep.
