Casey
I'm creeping past the door of one of the cells when I hear a thump from inside. Looking up, I pinch my eyebrows together. Someone inside has thrown themselves against the glass, their grin wide and their eyes dancing. They see me. I watch as they hold up a piece of paper."Dager I've herd about you and I want to go ecsape with you," says the note. On the bottom, it's signed "Casey."
I roll my eyes. Just a wannabe. I should have known. All the crazies in this place know about me, because the staff spread the word. "Have you heard about Dagger?" they whisper to one another in the halls. "I heard she killed her parents. They say she has a thirst for blood." Well, they're not wrong. I look up again at Casey, pressed up against the barred window of the door. More people on my side equals a better chance of my plan working, right? I sigh and pick the lock on the door.
When I open it, Casey springs out. She's grinning, her mouth stretching from ear to ear. Her teeth are yellowish, and her breath stinks of cavities.
"Casey wants to escape, too!" she exclaims, eyes wide. "Casey will help Dagger escape."
I hear footsteps at the end of the hall, and Casey does, too. We duck to avoid the flashlight beam. Casey whispers in my ear, "Does Dagger want Casey to play with the man?"
Her breath on my ear is hot and damp. I sigh. "Yeah. Go play with the guard." Get yourself caught, fool. I watch as she walks up to the guard, staggering, in a loping gait. The man sees her.
"Little girl, aren't you supposed to be in your room?" I hear him ask. His voice is thick with fear. In the glow of his flashlight, I see his eyes wide with terror. Casey suddenly lunges. "Holy sh-" The guard is cut off by the sound of Casey snapping his neck. That's followed by her twisting his arms and legs, and then she comes back over to me.
"Casey played with the man. See? Now his head can move like a dolly, and so can his arms and legs!" She laughs, a high-pitched sound, that sends shivers down my spine like nails on a chalkboard.
I roll my eyes. "Whatever. Let's go." But Casey grabs my arm.
"Wait!" she whispers. "Casey can't go without her friends. Casey wants her friends to escape with her and Dagger, too."
I raise one eyebrow. "What friends?" But Casey's already skipping down the hall. She stops at one door.
"Jason is in this place," she says, voice unnaturally low. She points across the hall to another door. "And Tommy is in there. But let's get Jason first. Casey needs to get Jason first."
