||Chapter 1|| I'm Sorry
Sal and Larry scanned the aisles of the small corner store for junk food to buy. Of course, there were selves and selves of junk food, but none of it interested the two males. Larry let out a sigh and turned to the blue headed boy,"There's nothing interesting" He grumbled. Sal just shrugged as he grabbed a few cans of monster out of the one of the fridges. He didn't want to admit it, but he has become obsessed with the energy drink.
"Let's just grab something then, even if it doesn't sound interesting." Sal suggested, his voice as monotone and low as ever. For such a small guy, he still had such a low and deep voice. It startled almost everyone he talked to, since he did look a bit too feminine to have a voice like that. Larry nodded at his statement and the two went down separate aisles to grab the snacks.
Sal grabbed a few bags of chips then crouched down in front of the sweets, his tail wagging slowly.
As he was surveying the sugar snacks, he suddenly felt a sharp pain in his tail. He yelped in pain and stood up quickly, alerting the person who stepped on him. He met eyes with them, grasping his own tail in his hands. He stared at Travis with his one working eye. Travis just stared back, taken aback by the high-pitched sound that had escaped Sal's mouth.
"Be careful next time." Sal said softly before turning away from the blonde and crouching back down to look at the treats.
"Sorry..." Sal's ears twitched at the words, he's never heard Travis say sorry before. He just put his hand into the air to dismiss it.
"It's fine, just watch where you're walking" He stood up after grabbing a few bags of skittles and leaving the aisle to find Larry.
Larry put a hand on Sal's shoulder.
"Travis is here" He grumbled quietly.
Larry had always had bittersweet feelings towards Travis. He knew Sal had a crush on him for a while, but it didn't dismiss what he did to them in high school.
"I know. He stepped on my tail by accident" Sal said flatly.
He didn't like Travis anymore. He had come to terms with that he was an awful person. He tried many times to help Travis with his situation, even let him stay in his own apartment when things got too rough. Only for Travis to humiliate him when he confessed his feelings to him. He knew he'd always feel sorry for him, but he would never pity him again.
The two boys got to the check-out, scanning their items and fumbling lightly to hold the snacks in their arms.
"Sal?"
Sal's ears flicked at the sound of a voice as he turned around. Travis held a water bottle in his hands. Larry stood defensively to the side and slightly in front of Sal.
"What?" Sal said quietly, holding the bags of chips to his chest.
"I... I'm sorry for what I did in high school. It was, a dick move" Travis muttered.
"It was more than a dick move," Larry retorted
"After all he did for you, you humiliated him in front of the whole school." Larry pushed a finger into Travis' chest before pushing him back with his palm.
Travis was only slightly shorter than Larry now. He met Larry's eyes, he could see the pure fury in the black pools.
"Larry. Back off. Let's just go." Sal rested a hand on Larry's shoulder. He had gotten taller, but was still the shortest of the three. Larry glanced back at Sal, and his body and his face softened, almost as if Sal made the fury just purely evaporate from him.
"Fine." Larry's eyes glanced over Travis before he just turned and walked away.
Sal glanced over Travis, his eyes were cold. Travis could tell that all the feelings the blue boy had for him died the day he made that dumb mistake. The longer Sal stared, the softer his look got before he just gave him a sad look of sympathy then walked away after Larry.
Travis watched them. His heart was still pounding from Sal's gaze. He was still crazy over him.
He still loved him
