The Hunters
I found myself with Apollo at the top of a grassy hill with large silvery tents I know as belonging to Artemis's Hunters. Why I was here, I don't know, because surely he'd take me to Tyson or Grover before Thalia. He walked me to the edge of the largest tent and held me to the side."I'll get her out." He whispered and walked in. I could just hear him calling all the girls in there sweetheart and honey, but I could definitely hear Artemis shouting at him. He came out a minute later with Thalia. He so liked her!
"Let go of me you-" Her voice trailed off when she saw me. I waved awkwardly at her.
"Aren't you dead or something?" She asked, generally confused. Apollo let her go and she slid a few feet away from him.
"No, I am very much alive, thank you." I responded. She gave me a look like I was crazy. Apollo rolled his eyes at my modesty.
"Alive and immortal." He laughed. I shot him a 'shut up' look, but he just shrugged and gave me a crooked smile. Thalia laughed until she realize no one else was.
"Wait, you're serious?" Her smile dropped as Apollo nodded for me, still smiling like a ninny. I couldn't help smile too, even though Thalia was staring at me. What else was new?
"Well, I don't believe you." She said stubbornly. She began walking back to the tent, and I had the sudden urge to convince her that I was telling the truth. She couldn't just accuse me of lying with no prof. I panicked and called out to her,
"Shoot me!" That sure got her attention. She turned and flashed a wicked grin.
"Okay." She pulled an arrow out of her quiver slow enough for me to object, but of course I didn't. She slowly slid the slit of the arrow into the bow string and aimed it's head at me, pulling back slowly. I casually put my thumbs in my pockets and shifted my weight to one leg. She loosed the arrow, and it flew right past me, grazing my ear. Hunters of Artemis never miss their targets, so I knew she wasn't aiming for me.
"I believe you." She said finally, throwing her quiver back over her shoulder, and she walked back to the flap opening of the tent.
"Goodbye, Percy Jackson." She smiled and closed the flap behind her. I turned to Apollo who was staring at the opening with a loving gaze. I snickered, and he shoved me over. I landed next to the arrow she had shot; it hadn't gone very far; and picked it up. I put it in my sock and covered it with my jeans. FOr some reason, I had a feeling I might need it some day.
"Come on," Apollo said, "Next stop, Sally Jackson!" He shouted, and we faded into the hillside.
