Camp Half-Blood
I let go of her hand as soon as we solidified and went back into my mortal form."You can open your eyes, and sorry about your hand." I said, adding the last bit when I looked at her slightly scorched left hand. It was pink and blistering, so I conjured a ball of cool water and rested it in her hand where it cooled it off. She looked at me, right in the eyes, and I hoped I could keep those death threat images out of them while she was.
"Are you really...?" Her voice trailed off, and I didn't answer. I just put my arm around her neck and led her down the hill to the Big House. I didn't feel the need to knock- why would I?- so I just opened the door and let Annabeth go in first. Chiron was in the room in centaur form, fiddling with his old nick-nacks when we walked in. He was startled and almost dropped a weird old thing that must've been from before I was born. He stared at us blankly and blinked a few times. I suppose it would have looked strange; a god and a girl that died a few thousand years ago standing in the doorway with their arms around each other.
"Annabeth? Percy?" He said as his eyes grew. I don't see the big deal with me being here, and surely he's seen demigods brought back from the dead before.
"Yes..." I prompted. Only after I said it did I realize I was acting weird. For a demigod, I mean. For a god I was overly normal.
"Why did you...? How did you...?" Stupid mortals.
"Annabeth. Dead. Yes? NO! Annabeth. Here. See?" I said, hoping the dumbstruck centaur would understand that I had brought her back. He nodded slowly and I rolled my eyes. Stupid mortals.
"Okay. At least Annabeth isn't completely slow like you. We're going to leave now. Speak now or forever hold your peace." I waited a few seconds and Chiron said nothing, so I twirled Annabeth around and led her out the door. It closed behind us at my command.
Annabeth stared at me in horror, tilting her neck up at a weird angle because we were so close and I was about seven inches taller.
"What?" I asked. She swallowed, and I slumped my shoulders.
"You aren't afraid of me, are you?" I almost laugh, which must have scared her even more.
"Sorry. Gee, Wise Girl. I'm not gonna hurt you. Just chill for a second." My language must have relaxed her a little. Was that really how I used to speak? I held her hand - not the burned one - and led her to the cabins. Might as well get this over with.
"Pretty sure you can guess whose all these are for." This whole past-talking thing was kind of hard.
Her eyes settled on mine and I looked away. I chewed on the inside of my mouth, waiting for her comment. She cleared her throat and let go of my hand, slowly walking up to the cabin. I held my breath when she walked up to one of the kids in the room. All four were there... great. I could hear her ask him who his godly parent was, and he pointed right at me. Annabeth followed his finger and I shrugged when she looked at me funny. I could barely hear her other question, but it sounded like she asked how many siblings he had on my (She pointed at me) side of the family.
She came back up to me and punched me hard in the gut. It didn't hurt at all.
"You want me to pretend that hurt? Ok." I doubled over and made over dramatic sounds of defeat, then came back up laughing like crazy. She grinned a little, then said,
"I can't believe you!" Her eyes flashed with humor.
"For what. That," I pointed at the kid she had been talking too and he gave a little 'hey!', "or for making you smile when you're trying so hard to hate me."
"Both." She punched me again and I gave her a crooked smile and flicked her in the stomach. I knew better than to punch, and I'm glad I didn't because she huffed out a breath and held her stomach where I had touched her. I glanced to my right and all the Percy kids (that sounds weird) had come out and were watching. I gave them a goofy smile and put up a water wall to block their vision of us, then I grabbed Annabeth and kissed her. And I'm pretty sure that after a few seconds, the wall fell down.
