Together Again
I held my glass and stared at Allen's eyes as he did the same. "So tell me, who did I remind you of?" I asked. Allen paused for a minute as he was trying to figure what I was talking about. He drew a look of realization on his face "Oh yes. Just a girl I used to know a long time ago"-"Oh really? Do I look like her?" I put my glass down and leaned back on my chair.
-"Well, I don't really remember her face very well. It is probably because of the name. Her name was Eva" Allen paused. I held my breath, I did not even blink, a million thought just ran through my mind. Everyone used to call me Eva when I was a kid. Allen continued "I just had to move to another country. When I came back two years ago, I went back to her house and I didn't find her, the new people who own that house now, told me that she and her family moved to another city, they didn't know which city so…" Allen smiled "I don't know why they moved" It is him, he is Sam, I am sure of that now. I can't believe it, that is not possible. "My father had a heart attack and passed away that year. I hated that house, all the family did. That's why we moved" I said while reaching for Allen's hand and held it "Sam…it's you, isn't it?" I asked. Allen opened his mouth with surprise and his eyes wide "Eva? Is that you?" Tears started to fall, it's Sam, he is back, we finally found each other again. Allen put his hand on his head "Oh my God, I can't believe this, you're Eva. Wow! You didn't use to wear glasses. And .. and.." Allen was talking loud and with happiness. I was just staring and smiling at him "Your mother, I knew I recognize her" Allen stopped talking, he just smiled and his eyes were shining, I don't know if that was caused by the lights or his tears. "How didn't we know each other before?" I asked.
-"I don't know, you didn't know my last name, Allen's last name" Allen rested his elbows on the table and leaned in front as if he was trying to catch a whisper.
-"And you didn't know my last name, Eve's last name" I continued, "Why did you change your name to Allen anyway?"
-"It's just a nickname my friends in France gave me, and it was kinda stuck with me ever since" Allen paused "And you? Why did you change your name to Eve?" Allen asked.
-"Some girls just told me that it's prettier than Eva. That happened the year you moved"
-"I think Eva is better, these girls know nothing" Allen looked down "I'm sorry about what happened to your father" he held my hand "I wish I was there with you"
-"That's okay. It was a long time ago, but now…now we found each other, I still can't believe it!"
We got out of the restaurant, Allen … I mean, Sam was sitting silent in the car smiling. We were in the car. "This is …the best night of my whole life" Sam said.
-"Yeah, it is" I sat still in the car. What is the next move? Do I get out and go home? Should I kiss him? I want to, but is this the right thing to do? Sam looked at me and asked "If I try to kiss you this time, would it be okay?" I didn't know what to answer. I nodded, biting my lip. Sam got closer to me, I got closer to him. You can just imagine what happened next.
I can't continue this story with describing the kiss, because I don't know how it feels, I never met my "Sam" in real life yet….or kissed anyone, I'm only reading, studying, living in the library. But Eva….she found her love. And Sam…he found his Eva.
