A Strange Fellow

I felt the soft fur of another Pokemon as I stumbled back. "Woah are you okay?" he said as I looked up. A riolu looked down at me who was way older. "Um, hey," I said, trying not to scare him off. "I was just picking some berries for myself until I saw that landslide. Ya need a place to stay?" He said politely. "Thank you!" I yelled as I hugged him. "I'm Nikki, by the way," I said, smiling. "Well I'm Liam," he said as he picked me up.
As I rode on his back, I could see grassy meadows and beautiful flowers. I munched on a Pecha Berry until I noticed something on Liam's arm. "Why is that oval on your arm shinier than the other?" I asked. "That's an everstone. I never wanna evolve. I wanna be only a riolu," he told me. "Can I have one too?" I asked, remembering why I left the cave. "Sure, I could try!" He said happily.
Eventually, we got to a hill. I saw a nice little nest perched atop of the hill. My eyes widened, looking at his supply of berries. "Why did you need to pick berries?" I asked Liam. "I usually trade berries for other things I need to survive at the PokeMarket," He told me. "Is there everstones at the market?" I asked, feeling excited about my new home.
"Yes. There is a stone shop being run by a Sandshrew. He have evolution stones and everstones," Liam told me with wisdom in his eyes. My body started to bounce. I needed to get there right now! It was the reason my family had died, so I had to at least get it. "We need to get there as soon as possible!" I yapped, wondering when soon would be.
"How about we hit the hay first, literally," he told me, walking us over to his bed. "Aww okay." I rubbed my eyes, feeling them get teary.
