The Dead of the Dawn

The Dead of the Dawn

The roaring of the train passed as Marie stepped off of it. She clutched her coat tight to her body, hoping that it will give some kind of warmth. But the cold seeped into her skin. She was shivering like crazy. But she had to keep going. It was all she could hold on to.

A Series of Tragic Events

Marie was shocked when Klaus told her about the dead bodies that were seen outside the camp. The bodies were mostly people with disabilities, as they were the first to be killed. As she heard Klaus's words she felt tears brewing in her eyes. Klaus saw this and held her until she calmed down.

But she felt a part of her heart had been ripped out. Mostly because it already been shattered into a million peaces. All this was making her insane. Soon she would die from this insanity, but today is not that day. She still had some time to survive, if Klaus was with her, then she would survive.

When she pulled away from Klaus, and wiped her tears away. She only knew one thing. Is that she would keep Klaus by her side, until she couldn't have him by her side anymore.

Marie knew she had this bond with him, and that she couldn't let go of him even if she wanted to. They were friends, and even if the only thing he knew how to do was calm her down. Then at least he knows how to do it right.

But one day she knew she wouldn't have Klaus to take care of her. So she needed to learn how to take care of herself, she needed to learn how to survive without Klaus. Klaus had some skill in hand to hand combat. Marie knew some moves, as her father taught her some. He was always the first on top of her safety. She smiled at that memory.

And when she first told Klaus she wanted to learn self defense. Or at least how to simply use a gun. He laughed and shook his head. But taught her something anyway.

They were training regularly now. Sometimes how to use a gun, or a knife. Or simply just kicking ass.

She didn't know how he got all of this equipment. Didn't really care though.

Klaus would go out sometimes and purchase some food for them. Or he would go and bring her some clothes. As before she only had one pair of everything, and her coat to keep her warm.

And when she first saw Klaus without his uniform, she felt tingles inside. He looked cute, in his coat and jeans, with his shirt tucked into his pants. And without his hat you could see his blonde hair. Technically it was blonde. Just a really, really dirty blonde.

And you could see a light inside those crystals for eyes.

Overall he was beautiful.

"Marie? Is there something on my face?" he said.

Suddenly she knew that she'd been staring at him. Marie blushed a deep red, and mumbled her excuse.

Soon it would be time for bed. Klaus said he wanted her to get much sleep as she needed. And to be honest, she really didn't think she got much sleep since she'd been in this situation, either.

When Marie woke up the next morning Klaus wasn't there.

Marie searched the building but couldn't find him. She looked outside but he wasn't there.

She tried to look around for a note telling her where he went. But nothing was there. Nothing at all.

She told herself she was panicking for nothing. That he would come back for her soon.

But she wasn't worried about herself; she was worried about Klaus.

She had this nagging feeling that something was wrong. But if he was really gone, then at least he would be safe.

Marie felt herself start to panic.

Klaus

Klaus

Klaus

Where are you?

Marie laid down on the mat that she usually slept on. She tried to calm down, maybe think of happy thoughts. She felt herself shaking and she closed her eyes to block out all the ringing in her ears. Her hands felt sweaty, her forehead felt hot. All of this was going to make her sick.

She felt the tears coming again. The pain in her chest wasn't going to go away for a while.

So she counted to ten.

Marie didn't even stop after she reached ten. She started over and over again. Until she would calm down or stop crying. Whichever came first, that is.

And when she did calm down, her head felt clearer.

Marie actually started to feel herself relax.

Until she heard the door break down. As alert as ever she opened her eyes as quickly as she could. But when she did, Marie felt her arms being tied behind her with shackles and her head being forced to stay put on the ground.

Two Nazi's had guns pointed at her back and her head.
