A few days later, I am finally unpacked into my new home in Mobius. A 2 storey house, with a big living room, medium-sized kitchen - perfect for some old family recipes - a beautiful bedroom I can decorate myself, and a couple of spare bedrooms too for visitors. I had a little help from my new friend, Camille. I feel lucky to have her as a friend. People say Camille is the Queen of Mobius. But to me, a friend is worth keeping, Queen or no Queen.
It's not long before finishing that I receive a phone call from my home town's police force.
"Is this Miss Jackie Summersmith?" they ask.
"Yes, this is," I reply.
"I'm afraid we have some solemn news for you, Miss Summersmith."
Solemn? This can't be good.
"What happened?" I ask them.
"Your mother, Lorraine Summersmith, was on a business holiday in Australia, where a tsunami has recently happened. Your mother is now confirmed as one of the fallen victims."
Everything around me freezes. Even my mind.
"So she's gone?!"
"I am so sorry."
I let go of the phone. My mother is gone. Killed.
I am now an orphan.
I bury my face in the cushion I was resting my head on. And I sob. I sob my heart out. Like tomorrow wouldn't exist.
I grab for my mobile, because I know only one person to comfort me.
I text him: I NEED U.

My face is crinkled and sore from my tears. I see Camille standing at the door to my home.
"Jackie, I heard what happened," she says. "I am so sorry." She walks over to me and embraces me.
I want to cry again, but I don't; I hug her back.
"Are you okay?" she asks me.
"This wouldn't have happened if I stayed with my mum," I reply. "She would still be alive right now."
"Jackie don't say that," Camille replies. "If you had stayed with her you wouldn't have met all of us here."
"True..." I reply.
"And I wouldn't have found anyone to love," another voice says. I look up at the doorway to see Sonic with a bouquet of roses.
And judging by his expression, he too has heard the news.
I try to smile, though smiling would be impossible now.
He walks over and hands me the bouquet, before he hugs me.
"She's gone..." I say. "My family... they're all gone."
He seems understanding though. There's no utter sadness in his face. But there is sympathy.
He leans towards me and all I hear is his comforting voice whispering to me:
"I'll be your family now."
