Will I Stay?

[HUGE SPOILERS TO HUMAN-HEDGEHOG IN THIS CHAPTER!!!!!!!!]

"Jackie? Is that you?"
I hear a soft, adult voice calling to me as my vision returns. Standing over me is a woman with brunette hair, like mine back in the days I was a human, dark blue eyes, and pale, yet fair skin.
My mother.
"Mum?"
"You came back!" She picks me up and hugs - no, squeezes - me tightly. I return the embrace, clinging to her. I have not seen her for ages.
I bury my face into her shoulder and cry in happiness. She pats my back a few times before stroking it.
I then feel a hand on my shoulder and turn around. My heart stopped.
Sonic.
He followed me through the portal after Domanic shoved me in.
"Feeling okay?" he asks me.
I nod. "Yeah."
"Met someone, have we?" my mum butts in.
"Mum!" I cover my face in humiliation, only for Sonic to remove my hands.
"Don't hide," he says. "I think it's cute." I blush. He finds me cute.
Even when I'm being embarrassed.
I then look at my hands, and realised that when I was thrown through the portal, I became a human again. My hair was once again brunette, short, and curled to my shoulders. I was wearing my designer clothes again.
"Come on Jackie," my mum says, grabbing my hand. "You need some rest."
As we walk to the house, I take the time to look back at Sonic. He looks sad. Almost depressed.
Like seeing me human again breaks his heart.
I release my hand from my mother's grasp. "Mum..."
"Yes?" she replies.
"I want to be with Sonic. In Mobius," I tell her. "I don't care if it makes me sound crazy. I love him. And I want to be with him."
I expect my mother to look shocked that I'd rather be with Sonic than her. But when I look at her, I see an understanding expression.
"Promise me you'll come visit?" she says.
"I promise," I reply. We hold each other in a long embrace as if it was a good-bye, though we both know it's not forever.
I then pull away, and walk towards Sonic.
"Take good care of my daughter," my mother shouts to Sonic.
"I will," Sonic replies. "Don't worry."
And on that word, he takes my hand as we both enter the portal back to Mobius.
I've made the decision to stay with Sonic.
And I know, deep down, only one thing:
It is a decision I will NEVER regret.
