Playing in Minecraft: Noob to Pro

Peculiar structures

I 'woke up' and hopped of my bed and went outside in search of sheep. I wanted to find sheep because I found out that it's more safe to bring a bed with you when you're exploring. I walked out of the forest and then I saw the most peculiar thing. It looked like a 4x3 squares with blackish-purplish things on it. I took another step closer and then...Ouch! I stepped on some...oh! Magma! I figured that out by searching on google(again.)I quickly hopped of and I touched the obsidian and I suddenly realized what this was! "a ruined nether portal!" I breathed. This I also found out by searching on the web although it didn't have a picture. Only a description. I scrambled to the back of the portal carefully avoiding the magma bits and opened the chest. I gasped. I could see some enchanted gold armor and a sword made out of iron plus food and a bed and even some flint and steel! I was very surprised. However, even though I was very curious about this, I knew better then to come here knowing I could die on lava so I dug one hole down and replaced it with a ordinary dirt block. I carefully stepped over the block. it worked! I spent the rest of my time covering up the magma blocks before I realized it was getting late. I grabbed my extra bed and slept.
