Isles of Love

Chapter 1

I looked up at the sycamore tree above me. School started in a few days, and I was already feeling homesick from Australia.
We moved from there to Los Angeles, California. I basically had no friends, and no social life whatsoever. Friends from Australia could barely FaceTime or Skype me since Internet there was so bad. My parents had divorced the day Mom announced we were moving, and my dad ended up staying in Australia.
I pulled my curled brown hair to the front. I could tell people knew I was Australian. Some of Mom's friends lived in L.A. and introduced their daughters/sons to us.

"Oh, Bridgette!" A woman with a tight blonde bun hugged my mom. "How are you?"
"I'm good, Sienna," Mom replied. "You?"
"I'm surprised you have lost your Australian accent already," Sienna laughed. "Come, meet my daughter, Lindsey."
We walked to their house with my phone in front of my face. There was no possible way I would be talking to anyone. No, no.
"Drew, talk." Mom silently scolded.
"Erm, hi." I spoke to Sienna, standing next to a pretty girl with strawberry blonde hair.
"Hello! You must be Drew," Sienna said, shaking my hand. "This is my daughter Lindsey. She goes to school you're going to, and you guys are the same age!"
"O-okay, then." I stuffed my hands back in my pockets and stared at the ground.
"Mom!" Lindsey cried. "Do I have to hang out with this loser at school?"
"Be polite." Sienna said.
"Ugh, fine," Lindsey walked over to me and sorta nudged/pushed my arm. "Just so you know, I'm doing this for more allowance. We're not friends, and never will be. Got it?"
"Yeah, okay, got it." I muttered. This is going to be such a great year!
