Wars storm
They leave distraught. Away from the only life they’ve ever knownAway from the place they’d once been glad to call their family home.
Don’t know where they’re going. Only know they have to leave.
With every step they have to take, trying hard to breathe.
Through the dust, the pain, the bombs and guns, takes courage to be brave.
Hoping life yet far away contains true peace and life that’s safe.
Give them shelter. Give them hope. What they need so they survive.
Just like you in heart and mind. All they want’s a peaceful life.
Safety for their family, far from those who mean them harm.
Care for them. Don’t close your eyes. Save them from war’s storm.
Distress and grief. They’re overcome with numbness, wracked with pain.
The tiredness, the hopelessness, they desire just to live again.
It could have been you in their shoes, if you’d been born where they are from.
How would you feel if you now know it hurts too much to just belong?
They muster up an inner strength knowing what to do
And go out searching for a place where they can start anew.
Give them shelter. Give them hope. What they need so they survive.
Just like you in heart and mind. All they want’s a peaceful life.
Safety for their family, far from those who mean them harm.
Care for them. Don’t close your eyes. Save them from war’s storm.
Look closely and dig deep inside to see how you can help
Every baby, child deserves a caring hand, not this living hell.
The human race is a family; we need to watch over each other
Think of everyone you see as a mother, father, sister, brother.
Help them with their burden and the load they have to bear.
Show them in the world you live there are still those who care.
Give them shelter. Give them hope. What they need so they survive.
Just like you in heart and mind. All they want’s a peaceful life.
Safety for their family, far from those who mean them harm.
Care for them. Don’t close your eyes. Save them from war’s storm.
We all can show true empathy if we would only choose
To show an act of kindness. What have we got to lose?
Make peace with troubled strangers. Be a listening ear.
Love is never far away from banished hurt and fear.
Rise above the sadness as you watch and cry and pray.
Knowing that you’ve played your part so they can live today.
