I stood up. Might. I might have lost my brothers. I ran out of the room and to the front desk. “Sasha, Rory,” I panted. “Where’s Sasha and Rory?!”
The nurse looked up. “Sasha and Rory? One moment.” she started typing something into her computer. “They checked in a little while ago. They're in room 8695.’
I ran through the halls and burst into Sasha and Rory’s room. They ran towards me and I could see that they had been crying. We hugged, but then Rory asked about Jamie and Fern. I looked into his hopeful eyes, thinking about that bond he shared with Jamie. I took a deep breath.
“Fern is fine, but Jamie...we Lost her.” Rory burst into tears and Sasha quickly started to comfort him. I made a move to comfort him, but Sasha gave me a look that stopped me short. I sighed, but left the room. Sasha always knew best when it came to his twin.
I walked outside and started to walk aimlessly. “Now what?” I muttered. Fern and Willow were always super close, especially since their parents left them to go back to the inner city. A lot of us in the gray area practically raise ourselves, and once we’re a bit older we end up taking care of the younger kids, most of which are twins. For some reason, Jamie and Fern had an unbreakable bond with Rory and Sasha.
I looked up and realized that I had wandered into the nursery. I used to spend my days in here, back when we were younger, when it happened the first time. I picked up a crying baby who was wearing tattered clothes and started to soothe her. “You, and your siblings, you guys are going to grow up strong. We can get everyone back. Life will be hard for you but be strong. Be strong, my baby girl,” I whispered.
“Milo?” I jumped, and then quickly calmed the child that I was holding.
“Connor!” I put the kid down then ran forward and hugged him, and didn't let go for a few minutes.
“I thought they sent you out. Did they let you back in? C-can you stay?” He asked hopefully.
“No. It happened again Con…..and..we lost Jamie”
Connor kissed me on the cheek, then hugged me tighter than the first time. “I am so sorry” He whispered.
A single tear slid down my face and I started to actually cry. Connor held me, then lifted me up and started to walk towards his room while I started to fall asleep, with my head against his shoulder.
When we got to his room, he set me down on his bed with my head on his pillow, then pulled the covers over me and kissed me on my forehead. “I still love you,”  I heard him whisper, just as I fell asleep...
