Veronica Roth´s suspenseful Divergent novel has definitely blown all other dystopian books out of the water. With her amazing skill of weaving words into captivating and first class stories, Veronica pulls you into the pages of her book, filling you with an unbearable longing to read on. This 5 Star book, published on April 25, 2011 is still one of the most popular dystopian books, filled with adventure, danger and mystery. This is a perfect book for teens, ages varying from 11 to 20.
In her sixteenth year of age, Beatrice needs to make a big choice that will change her life. She needs to make the decision of which one of the five aspects of her world she will choose. Each one of the so called “factions” are based on one characteristic trait that these people worship the most. Amity is for the peaceful and kind, Candor is for the honest, Erudite is for the ones that have a desire to gain knowledge, Abnegation is for the selfless and Dauntless is for the brave. But in the test that defines your faction, Beatrice discovers that she is a Divergent, a person with more than one strong physical characteristic. If the leaders of the factions find out about what she really is, Beatrice would be killed. The leaders are scared of strong minded people, so they decide to eliminate them. After long hours of thinking, Beatrice chooses the faction Dauntless, where she shortens her name to Tris. Even though she is curious to learn about her new faction, Tris misses her family. There is a saying called “faction before blood” indicating that your faction is your new family and that you need to let go of your old family. In the Dauntless faction, Tris is trained to become courageous and brave, but soon she notices the tension bubbling under the surface. When she and her friends learn that only the top 10 ranked trainees will survive and get to live in Dauntless, Tris is desperate to prove her worth. But little does she, or anyone else know what evil plans are starting to be formed by some very dangerous people…
