Chapter 15: Summer Gets to Talking
I sat down on my couch next to Summer. It was 8:00, and since it was Tuesday, we were about to watch 'Pretty Little Liars.' I love that show so much. During commercial break, she says, "So... you and your little friends... you haven't exactly been giving me updates on anything that's happening." I guess I was just so caught up in living in the situations, that I forgot to talk about them with people who weren't there. "Oh, yeah... a lot of things have happened..." I began. "Like what?" She asked, excitedly. "Well-" I was interrupted. Summer says, "Are you and Greyson, " she looks around first, and I take in a sip of water, then she says, "dating?" I spit out my water all over the table. "Are we what?!" I demanded. "Dating. Like, did he ask you out, and you said yes, and you guys kiss and stuff? You know, dating?" She says like I'm dumb. "No, of course not! He didn't ask me out, and we don't- kiss and stuff, ew!" I exclaim. "Okay, okay, just wondering." She says, defensively. Then she adds, quickly, "So what is going on?" I groan, "Summer...-" She says, "There's something going on! I just know it! What are you hiding?" I just shake my head, then say, "It's back." I point at the T.V. Summer looks at the T.V., then eyes me suspiciously. She, then, looks back to the screen. The next day, in third period, Hayden gets called to the office. He unlinks our hands from each other, the heads out the door, followed by several rising, "Ooooooh...."'s from the class. He just looks at the class like they are a bunch of eight-year-olds, which they seem to be acting like. He leaves, and, I know I sound like an obsessive girlfriend, but I am curious as to why he would get called to the office. He doesn't really do anything bad enough to get called down there. Maybe he forgot something at home and his mom just dropped it off in the office for him. Maybe he was nominated for, I don't know, a 'Never-been-in-trouble' award. Or maybe... just maybe, he is getting suspended. Or, even worse... expelled. I shouldn't listen to the stupid 'What-if's in my head, but I can't help it. I have the teacher sign a bathroom pass for me, and I head down to the office.
In the window to the office, I don't see the principal awarding him for something. I don't see him picking up something from home, either. What I see... is Summer. Talking with Hayden.
What is she doing here? She is supposed to be at NOVA right now. She is trying to get him to tell her what's going on with me, I bet. I really hope he doesn't spill. I love and trust my sister, I do, but she has so much more experience with guys than I do, and I feel like if she finds out, she'll try and butt in.
Hayden walks out and bumps into me. "H-hey! What, uh, what're-what're you doing here?"
"I was... o-on my way to the bathroom," I hold up my potty pass," And I-I saw Summer talking to you. What'd she want?"
"Oh, that, she said that something's been going on with you, and she figured I would know."
"W-what'd you tell her?"
***Hayden's POV***
"W-what'd you tell her?" Avalon asked me. When Summer came and asked me what was going on, I said I didn't notice a change in Avalon. She asked if anything big has happened in her life lately, and said that I sure hope it felt big to Avalon, but I don't know what could be the problem. I added that I will try and be the best boyfriend I can and get to the bottom of this. I answer Avalon, "That I hadn't noticed anything different about you. Same ol' Avalon." I punch her in the arm. "Okay, so then what'd she say?" I reply, "Nothing really-" She interrupts, "Did she ask if we were dating? 'Cause I don't want her to find out yet."
Oh, no! She didn't want to tell her yet, and I just blurted it out! "Uh-uh... n-no, I just said that I will be the best that I can be at getting to the bottom of this. Yeah, that works." I didn't mean to say the last part, but it didn't phase her. "Oh, thank goodness, "She hugs me, then continues, "You go to class now so that I won't walk in at the same time and make it all look sketchy. I actually do have to go to the bathroom now- I mean I haven't gotten to go yet, and I- I just, uh- Oh, go to class already!" She scrambles into the bathroom. That was odd... but there is obviously not anything going on with her, since what she was trying to hide was that we are dating. And I bet Summer will confront her about it tonight. I sigh and walk to class.
***Avalon's POV***
Surprisingly, Summer didn't ask me anything that night, begging for information. Today, Thursday, The four of us, Hallie, Grey, Hayden, and I, are having a picnic in a meadow for lunch, then we're ditching school the rest of the day. I know I sound lame, but I feel so bad! In a good way! We are going to ditch school and then hang out in the bed of Greyson's truck. I, secretly, want to make out with Hayden tonight. It sounds stupid to plan on it, but I've dreamed of making out with him in the bed of a truck for a while now.
I pull on my new bandeau, which is kind of like a bra, but it is strapless and kinda looks like a short tube top. Then, I slip into high-waisted shorts, then pull a muscle tee, that says 'Pink' on it. I love this top, 'cause you can see the bandeau on the sides. I put my hair in a bun, then wrap a bandana around the front of my hairline. I check my outfit in the mirror, then slide a two finger cross ring on my fingers. I do my makeup, and then I feel complete.
"Hallie, you look so pretty today, you know that?" Greyson compliments. She thanks him with a kiss. We just ate lunch about three hours ago, and we are heading to Greyson's truck to drive home. We already hung out in it, which was basically Hayden and I sitting on the tailgate which was down, Greyson and Hallie Making out behind us. We just talked and starred at the sunset. He did sneak in a kiss on the cheek, though, so that's good, I guess...
***Greyson's POV***
I already drove Hayden and Avalon home, but Hallie stayed at my house and met my parents, then ate dinner. We just finished cleaning up, and Hallie and I walk into my room. "Ooh, nice room!" Hallie says, flopping down on my bed. We stare at each other for a little bit, then she asks, "What are you looking at?" I shrug. "Just admiring how beautiful you look right there." I grab my phone and snap a picture or two of her. I place my phone on my desk, then she takes her shoes off and throws them carelessly off to the side. I sit down next to her on the bed, and after a few seconds, we are kissing. I then lift her up so that she has her legs wrapped around my waist, and I walk over and close the curtains. I am almost positive Avalon saw that from her room. I walk back over to my bed and lay us down on the bed. She puts one leg up, over my hip and I slide my hand up and down her leg as we get rougher. She pulls at my shirt rim, but I don't let her pull it off; I pull away and say, "Let's not do something we might regret... I should get you home." She nods and agrees.
***Avalon's POV***
I see Greyson come to his window with Hallie wrapped around him; they are practically swallowing each other! He is shutting the curtains and I give him a big thumbs up, though eh probably didn't see it.
Suddenly, Summer bursts into my room. "I know the secret." She says. "W-what sec-" She interrupts me to say, "You and Hayden are dating!" I widen my eyes. He said he didn't tell! Maybe he didn't, and she just figured it out on her own. I take way too long to reply, so she knows it's true. "Aha!" She exclaims. I roll my eyes. No going back now. "How'd you know?" I ask. "Hayden said so. I don't think he really meant to, though. He probably didn't even realize he said it, since all he said was, 'I don't know what's going on, but I'll try and be the best boyfriend I can and get to the bottom of this.'" She used a deep voice when she was saying what he said. "He told me that he didn't mention us dating." I argue. "He probably didn't realize he said anything. And if he did, he probably noticed right after it happened and couldn't take it back. Or he knew he said it, but didn't want you to know he did. I don't blame him for lying, though. He thought you would get all mad at him, I bet." She points out. "I am kind of mad now." I mumble. "Don't be. He only lied because he knew you'd be mad. And, now, we don't know if he lied or not. It's not a big deal, anyway. Ooh! Dating tip: Guys don't like it when you get mad over little things." She nods as if to confirm that it is true. Oh, Lord, a dating tip. Here we go...
