Book 1, Chapter 1; Once
Once, it had been a cheerful town; lively and bright. Once, it had been full of smiling civilians, completely innocent bystanders. Once, it had been her home.Now, it had been razed to the ground. The town had been set aflame, and no villager had the chance to escape, (but she was no simple villager.) The civilians either died from inhaling smoke, or were burnt to a crisp by the fire’s destructive and deadly dance.
Those who weren’t, were gathered up. The town was pillaged, the women taken and the rest, slaughtered where they stood. They had entered the town at night, using the cover of darkness, not that they needed to for the village was defenceless. Then, they had left, leaving behind a burning village, robbed of its life and former glory.
She only gazed on from the surrounding forest, perched on a tree branch, making no move to intervene, but her ruby red eyes were as cold as ice, and her simmering anger slowly grew as she continued to watch, until it reached its boiling point. She made a silent vow to hunt them down, or die trying.
