Ch 1

"You are retarded you know that?" I smirk.
"Thank you," It's how I respond to rude remarks. This confuses him, which amuses me. A few minutes as I prepare to get off the bus he heads up to the front of the bus and waits. As I walk by he speaks.
"I'm sorry I called you that word, I'll call you tonight, love you!" He says. It seems to be an ongoing inside joke I wasn't aware of. Every day he tells me he loves me and he'll call me. He doesn't have my number though, so I suspect he is trying to look 'cool' for his friends. I think for a moment and then decided to do something different.
"I love you too." I say as I jump off the bus. Of course it's joking, after all, I like... someone else. My only question is could it be that he actually likes me and I'm just seeing it as him being rude and using me as a leg up with impressing others? Either way, I'll make my best of it and play along.
And on Monday that's what I do. I sit in homeroom alone waiting for my friends when Jonah comes back. He stands by my desk before stealing an empty chair and straddling the back. I don't look at him.
"I want to challenge you." He says. I look away. "Unless you're too scared..." I groan internally.
"What's your great idea now Jonah?" I question, not wanting to seem like a whimp. He smirks.
"We fake date. Make it seem as real as possible. Whoever falls in love first... looses." I'm intrigued.
"What if neither of us fall in love?" He ponders this a moment.
"Then we wait until someone does." I think for a moment.
"And what is the winner's prize and loser's punishment?" He laughs.
"Winner has the satasfaction of winning and instant popularity. One hundred bucks is also in order. And the loser has to admit what the challenge was and that they fell in love first." I consider this.
"Alright, you're on! I'm feeling... One hundred dollars poor so this works in my favor."
"No, I'll be doing the winning." He laughs thinking he's all powerful.
"You really think I'd fall for you?" I hiss at him.
"Of course you will!" He argues.
"Have you looked at yourself this morning?" I growl and turn away.
"Yeah, I'm looking pretty hot too aren't I?" He winks and I roll my eyes.
"Well, what are the terms of the relationship?" I ask, distracting the topic. I hate to admit this but he is quite good looking with black hair, olive skin and big brown eyes. And he plays baseball!
"Hm... I'll walk you to your classes, tell everyone I asked you out right now and we kiss saying hello and goodbye, hugs-"
"Wait you mean I have to kiss your slimy lips?" I shiver at the idea. He frowns.
"How else does this look real?" I shake my head but he continues. "Hugs hello and goodbye and 'date night' on fridays? Hold hands in the hallway and I'll talk to Mrs. Casey to move my seat next to her with a tip off that I'm dating you." I groan.
"I prefer not having to smell you!" He sniffs his arm pits.
"I don't stink!" I can't help but laugh. And so does he. "So basically pretend we're really dating." I nod.
"Date night what do we do?" I ask unsure of what he might say. This is JONAH we're talking about, it could be anything.
"Hang out at each other's house. Our parents have to believe it too." I freeze.
"My mom can easily smell a lie." I point out.
"Then make it believable." He says and returns to thinking.
"Nothing sexual?" I ask with hope. He laughs.
"Not unless you want to," He winks and smirks.
"Good point. It wouldn't even be good enough!" I look away.
        "I'll have you know-"
"Jonah, what are you doing?" Jon asks and looks curiously at me. I look at Jonah with a panicked expression.
"Jon, this is my girlfriend. As of..." He looks at his watch. "Seven and a half minutes!" He smiles proudly. It seems so real...
"I see," Jon winks at him and I roll my eyes." Jonah scoffs and looks Jon dead in the eye as he grabs my hand and entwines our fingers.
"I happen to really like her." He looks at me now with a soft blush on his cheeks and a smile on his lips. "The way her eyes light up when she smiles, her laugh it sounds like glass falling. And her hair is... It's fabulous! And she isn't afraid to express herself through writing or even her style. She is the most beautiful person I've ever met. And I've met a lot of people."
My eyes almost water with tears, but I hold it back. "Aw!" I say. Jon rolls his eyes.
"You may kiss the bride," He says dramatically, but Jonah wasn't. He took it as incentative. His lips touched mine. A shock runs through my lips and his warm, soft ones mold to mine. I relax and become intranced by the jumping and flipping in my stomach. Jonah moves closer and puts a hand on my shoulder. He put his hand on my shoulder and pushed me against the back of my chair. He is leaning against me, kissing softly when the entire class gags. We pull away blushing at how caught up we got in our moment.
"You're a fair kisser," Jonah mutters to me, still blushing a soft pink under his eyes.
"You're only the second person I've ever kissed." I note. He gapes, mouth wide. "Close your mouth love, you'll catch flies." I joke, and he laughs.
"I'm impressed. For such little practice you are really good." I laugh at him.
"Falling in love already?" I joke with a wink and sly smile.
"That smile and almost. It made my heart jump, oh wait it was running away." I laugh. This scares him, but I laugh even more at his freaked out expression. "Sorry, I'm just so used to being called rude things all I can do is laugh now." I smile at him, and he kind of looks upset by this. I shake it off and change the topic.
"That's not nice of people..." He mutters, getting defensive about it.
"They are your friends but it doesn't matter. I'm horrible at holding grudges." That's a lie, it's the best thing I can do. I hold a grudge against a girl I knew in pre school because she tried to yank out one of my eyelashes and claimed it was to make my clone. I still hate her, even to this day. Which is probably why I have anger issues.
"My friends?" He questioned, angered by this thought.
"Yeah, lovely Gavin over there, when you're absent from the bus Tanner does it. You don't know how many times I've heard skank. But I hear it so much it no longer hurts, so just ignore it. That's what I do." I shrug it off.
"No, I'm going to say something to them. Because fake girlfriend of not, I am still obligated to stand up for you." I shrug nonchallant.
"Well, anyway, let's at least get to know each other better." I offer. And so we sit there and tell each other fun facts, ask questions and have a few good laughs. The bell rings and we have to separate to go to class.
"Surprisingly I had fun talking to you." I say and walk hand in hand with him to Social Studies. When we reach the door he replies.
"As did I. I'll see you soon baby..." He pecks my lips, and then I kiss the tip of his nose and smile widely before skipping into class. I laugh at the possibilities of what I may have done to him in that moment.
