James opens his eyes to see the bright blue sky peering through the tall green trees! He sits up and runs his hands over the tall green grass surrounding him! He stands up and looks down at his clothes to see that his outfit had changed into a trans pride tee and a pair of black dress pants! He is also wearing a pair of black combat boots! James spots a lake a few steps away! He walks towards it and looks at his reflection! James’s big sapphire eyes staring back at him!

James feels a dark aura grow behind him and turns around to see Ben walking towards him! Soon enough Ben and James are face to face! James wraps the other boy in a tight hug and begins to cry! Ben is a little taken aback by this but says “hey it’s okay! Don’t cry!” James looks at Ben and says “my eyes are back and yours are blue!” Ben looks down at the shining water below them only to be looked back at by two big bright blue jewels! Ben takes a few steps back from the pool of shining waters and says “I hate water!” James asks “why?” Ben looks the Brown haired boy directly in the eyes and says “that’s how I died!”

James asks “so you drowned?” Ben nods his head slightly before James wraps him in another embrace! James says “I'm so sorry. . .I wish I was there to help!” Ben hugs back and asks “why?” James releases the taller boy and asks “why what?” Ben asks “why are you so nice to me? Why are you so nice?” James says “everyone deserves happiness! Even killers!” Ben seems a little bit confused at this as he says “but I have taken so many innocent lives!”

James takes a seat on the ground and sticks his hand in the water! The water turns a crimson red in color and James says “things aren't always as they seem!” James continues to move his hand around in the now blood filled lake! Ben takes a seat next to James and asks “what do you mean by that?” James looks up at the blond boy and says “nothing is as it seems!”

James looks back down at the bloody water and asks “think of something you fear most and put your hand in the lake!” Ben looks at James like he is crazy and says “I can’t touch water!” James sighs and says “trust me!” Ben slowly puts his hand in the water and it turns back into a normal lake! James closes his eyes and the lake turns half pink half blue! The blue side is flashing different positive memories of Ben’s while the pink side is flashing different memories of James!

James opens his eyes and says “on the count of three take your hand out!” there is a moment of silence before James says “one. . .two. . .” . . . “three!” They both take their hands out of the lake and James wakes up on the couch in his living room! On the other side of the house Ben wakes up in James’s room...end of chapter eighteen
