Sick and Deadly

I quickly run to her side.
Beatrice said in pain “Auntia, he was so mean to me.”
I kneeled down beside her and said “What do you mean?”
She looked at me with watery eyes and began to pout. I took the end of my thumb and wiped her tears away.
“Tell me inside, Beatrice.” I said softly while lifting her up.
Her arm wrapped around my neck as I helped her inside the bakery.
“I told you, teens are just not meant to take care of children.” Prince Alfe said.
I gave him a glare and turned back to Beatrice. The blood had already dried on her pale skin.
I slide her blonde hair behind her ear. She stood up weakly, walking over to a booth. Her face was unreadable. I walked over to her and sat at the booth.
    “What happened Beatrice?”
“I asked him out.” I looked at her with confusion.
She continued “My crush. He started to laugh at me. I couldn’t run fast enough. He beaten me, and then.”
She stopped and said quietly, enough for me just to hear.
    “It happened again.”
I paused and stared at her. Solotice watched with worry.
It couldn’t have happened again. Not today. I helped her into the kitchen, where we could talk privately.
It couldn’t have happened today, not this god forbidding day.
I closed the door behind me and made sure nobody else was in the kitchen. I look at Beatrice with worry. She looks at me the same.
Beatrice said sadly “I was scared Auntia. I just couldn’t stop it this time, He explosed.”
Explosing is when people explode by the mind of others. Prince Alfe made the word up for just that. I finally realized that the blood on her wasn’t her blood, it was his. She began to sob. I took hold of her body, wrapping my arms around her. That’s all I could do, I couldn’t tell her it would be okay, because he’s already dead.
I started to remember the day I figured out we had powers. I was eleven years old. My sister was three.
