The Doll
In a little doll shop on Laqueus Lane, a woman put the finishing touches on her newest doll, who was exceptionally pretty. She went and unlocked the door and was ready for a new customer. A gentlemen entered and looked about the space, then went over to the doll display. The woman smiled at him."What can I help you with?" she asked politely.
"I'm searching for a doll for my daughter. She fell ill last night. I thought it might improve her spirits," he said rubbing his forehead. He looked at each doll then stopped at one in particular. "This one! I didn't see this one before. It's a spitting image of my daughter." The woman nodded and took the doll off the shelf. And proceeded to place the doll in a white box and pink tissue paper.
"I'm sure your daughter will like it very much. I hope she recovers soon," said the woman.
"She's such a doll, I can't bear to see her unwell. Good day, Madam!" said the gentlemen. The woman was paid and he left clutching the box containing quite the little treasure. The doll inside was otherworldly beautiful and expertly detailed. She had smooth porcelain skin, chocolate brown curls, and large green eyes. She was clad in a red coat and in her right hand she clutched a small, embroidered handkerchief.
