Chapter TWO
SCREECH!!I let out a small scream as the creature tears through the window. It look like a female, her grey, almost green, flaky skin peeling around her, her wings, like black cobwebs, drip a horrible smelling, black liquid onto the curtains. She screams, her mouth opening unnaturally wide. I hold up my gun and place my finger over the trigger, massaging it as I get my aim right. Ignoring the fear surging through my veins, I stare right into her fully black eyes.
BANG.
I pull the trigger and the bullet lands in her chest, peeling away more skin, revealing her rotting bones and very dark red blood. “Bingo,” I smirk. Jared fires a few small shots with his gun, to confirm the death of the creature, before it falls backwards, and out of the window.
“Everyone, it’s safe now, you may remove your blankets,” Jared orders. All of the flustered, frightened people tear off their blankets. Just one of the creatures could kill one hundred humans in just under thirty minutes. Deadly. Killers. Jared comes up to me and takes my gun and places it back on the rack, along with his.
“Thank you!” A young child gushes. “Hero!!” She points to me as Jared heads back to the dark and gloomy corner, which he was sitting in before. The young girl rushes over to the corner, pulling Jared out of his ‘happy place’. “Hero,” She tells him also, pointing to his nose and smiling. To my surprise, the gloomy, rage infested friend of mine, smiles back.
“Thanks,” He murmurs to the girl. Then his expression changes to the Jared I know, “Now go back to your parents,” He orders, sternly. Fear strikes the little girl’s face, as she turns and hurries back to her parents. Her parents wrap their arms around her as she curls up in the blanket given to her.
