First Light
He sat straight up. Where was he?
Gray fence.
He didn't recognize this place, but...it felt...familiar...
He pulled himself up, then looped his fingers in the fence.
Looked up.
...sun?
Why was he here?
There was fence surrounding him on three sides. He walked to his left, then realized he was in a maze.
White cloths...
Six white cloths...
He held them, tugged on them.
Six.
Like the ones that were still alive.
He turned and ran. He couldn't stand this place one moment longer. He had to escape this maze.
He tried over and over again, reaching dead ends, turning corners, trying to find his way out.
Then he reached.
Between two stretches of fence was...a road.
An old, concrete road, worn and tear shown all over.
He ran that final stretch and set one foot on the road. Instantly, the dust rose, and the road...healed itself. Cracks were sealed, a white line was pained down the middle, and color was restored to it.
There was something painted on the road. He walked closer and squinted at it.
"Forever".
Forever...we are young.
Jin said it to himself.
"Forever, we are young."
