The Day
"Oh my gosh, I am so nervous!""You'll be fine!"
It's the day of the talent show, and I am on in two performances!!
"Oh no, they just ended!!!" I squeal in fright.
"It's ok! You'll be FINE!!"
"Now up is Kara performing a song she made herself called, 'I'm Still Wondering'
My legs shaking, I walk up on stage, my sparkly black costume glinting. There are millions of faces in front of me.
I get my pick out and do a practice strum with my guitar. Then I start to sing:
"Why didn't I see
That when you're with me
I get a funny feelin'
In my heart
Why didn't I look
Closer, 'cos I mistook
You for some idiotic smart
Why can't I think
When you give me a wink
Cos all I do is blush and turn to
Now when I glance
At you, I'm in a trance
And I just don't know
What to do
And as red fades to pink fades to orange fades to blue,
I'm still wond'rin why I don't take you
All this time I could see,
If you really loved me
And now, all my dreams turn to dust...
So what I see
When that dust clears for me
Is that I've been
an imbecile
Oh, how I bleed
Now I know
What you really need
And I can't bear to look
At that smile
So now I'll try to see
The better person in me
And I'll change
From a minus to a plus
And for once I really think
That you can forgive that link
The one that has broken
Between us
And as red fades to pink fades to orange fades to blue,
I'm still wond'rin why I don't take you
All this time I could see,
If you really loved me
And now, all my dreams turn to dust...
And as red fades to pink fades to orange fades to blue,
I'm still wond'rin why I don't take you
All this time I could see,
If you really loved me
And now, all my dreams turn to dust...
A-a-nd now
All my dreams
Turn... to... dust..."
Applause fills my ears. I take a bow and hurry off stage.
"You. Were. AH-MAY-ZING!"
Sage and Sinya are there. I grin. "Thanks guys."
"I didn't even know you could play the guitar!"
"My dad taught me."
"AWESOME!"
Pretty soon the show was almost over. I watched as the principal stepped up to the platform.
"I want to say thank you to all the parents, teachers, and, above all, students that helped organize this. Everyone was great, but we have all decided that the clear winner is... Kara!"
I heard a thump as my head hit the floor.
