the first fight

the first fight         An hour and a half later the announcer got on the microphone and started to greet the audience and tell them what’s new and what will continue throughout the tournament. About 20 minutes later he called the champions to the ring. He stood up and started to walk to the entrance of the ring. His name was called and he walked out into the bright sun everybody cheered him as he took his steps to the box. He climbed up the steps of the box and stood on the three by three platform before the slim beams started a few moments later the announce stopped and then started up again he was naming more champions and on the other side of the ring was another entrance. Three other champions filtered out as their names were called. A slender man with a spear climbed the stairs to the box and stood across form Noel on his platform. The announcer boomed. “May your steel decide your faith and you skills keep you alive.” The tall slender man lowered his spear and bent his knees ready to charge at Noel. Noel spread his arms as if they were wings and also bent his knees. The announcer boomed something he didn’t hear and then yelled. “Fight!” The slender man charged across the beams. Noel did the same but at the last second and jumped to the next beam over. The slender man stopped in his tracks and swung wide at Noel. Noel jumped back to the next beam behind him and caught the spear in the curve of his axe and pulled hoping to yank the spear out of his hands.

But he had no luck so he ran across the beam he was on to the far side of the box. Noel bought himself some time to study how is opponent fights. He already knew  that he relied on his charge and wide swings. He saw that the slender’s man legs could spread across the beams with ease so if he were to knock him down he would have to sweep his feet from underneath him and have him fall between the beams but there was no getting close to him with that seven foot spear. The man started to close in on him. Noel jumped to the next beam over and then the other. He jumped back to the middle beam and swung at the man’s legs and caught his heel with his blade.

The sound of steel cutting into bone terrifying but yet somewhat satisfying. The man screamed in agony as he lost his footing and fell between the beams. His spear hit the ground but he did not he managed to hold onto the beam. Noel sighed. “C’mon why couldn’t you just fall and make it easy on me.” He said. “I will not yield!” The man cried. “No mercy, no mercy!” The crowd chanted. Noel looked at the dangling man. “Sorry man you heard them.” He said. He raised one of his axes above his head and came down on the man’s left hand with a crunch puncturing the ground. Then he did the same with the other. The man screamed in pain. Noel looked at him and knelt down to him and said. “No mercy.” Then stood up and kicked the man’s head ripping his hands in two and sending him to the bottom of the box and onto the spikes. Noel looked up at the audience and threw his hands up in victory. The crowd cheered him. He grabbed his axes and pulled them out of the beam and walked off the box and back into the hall.
