the fat man

the fat man         A ray of sunlight shone through his window and onto his face. His eyes fluttered open, he put a hand in front of his face to cover his eyes. “Today is the day.” He said still groggy. He sat up in his bed and looked around as he always did. He went through his daily morning routine got dressed, broke his fast. The only thing that was different was that he had the thought in his mind that he was going to have to kill someone today. He walked over to his closet and grabbed a hoody and slipped it over his head and walked out the door.

He walked a few blocks to the Colosseum and through the main gates he showed the front gate people his participation ticket and they directed him to the fighters hall. HE walked through a long tunnel and into a long hall but nobody was in the hall but on fighter dressed in tattered leathers. “you’re early.” He said. Noel looked at him. “I guess.” He said. He looked around. “You’re new to this aren’t you?” The man asked. Noel nodded. The man smiled. “Armory is upstairs they’ll give you whatever you want.”

He said. “Thanks.” Noel said and made his way upstairs. He reached the second floor and walked up to the front desk. “What can I do you for?” a fat man asked behind the front desk. Noel looked behind him at the weapons and armor. “Can I have two battle  axes and light armor?” He asked. The fat man looks at him bewildered. “A battle axe and light armor the seams kind of counterproductive.” He said. “A heavy weapon and light armor you’re going to be very exposed when you swing.” Noel shrugged his shoulders. “I like to move quickly and come down with a lot of force.” The fat man smiled. “It’s not as easy as it sounds.” He said. “Well see now can I have my stuff.” Noel asked. The fat man scowled at him then turned around and yelled. Two battle axes and a some mail.!” He called to a short man running around in the back. Within a moment’s notice all of his gear was on the table. “sorry apparently we don’t have any mail so you get some boiled leathers no be gone with you.” He said with a rotten smile. Noel sighed and grabbed his stuff and made his way down the stairs. He reached the bottom of the stairs and opened the door and his ears were assaulted with noise. He looked around in the matter of minutes that it took him to get his gear the hall was full of men getting ready. “He couldn’t find the man that he was talking to earlier. He gave up his search and found an empty bench and took a seat and started to get ready. He fastened his leathers as tight as he could and grabbed his two battle axes. They measured about five feet long each. He grabbed about one forth of the way up
