Hail Hydra
We arrived in a very small village. It was overgrown with plants, yet it looked beautiful nonetheless."This is it, I don't live in one of the main villages or cities."
"It's nice, I was born in a city so I never really went to rural areas until I was on the run." He smiled a little and looked around, and I smiled back.
"Thank you."
We walked through the village. There were villagers sitting down playing bongos, guitars made out of wood and vines, and wooden flutes. Dancers danced to the music while elves and fairies alike would go in and out of shops, or sitting down eating.
"Wow, this place is amazing." Nightmare was looking around, curious.
"It really is."
We passed by a few dragon trainers playing with baby dragons. Nightmare paused and looked at them.
"Awww, they are so cute. We don't have dragons in our land, but we used to. A long long time ago."
"You don't have dragons!? Wow... I would have thought you did."
He shook his head.
"Nope. But the dragons that used to live there have a few ancient sites they left behind. They were much larger then you'd imagine, and could tear up mountains if they wished."
"Sounds very cool, our dragons are big but not as big as yours."
"Hm, maybe yours are our dragons descendants. Ours vanished without a trace, moving off to better lands when the angels started setting up their homeland. I wouldn't doubt it."
"Yeah maybe... Hey, do you want to ride a dragon? It's basically our form of transportation other then portals."
Nightmares eyes lit up.
"I would love to."
I smiled and nodded, then brought out a whistle. I blew as hard as I could. A minute later a huge earth dragon flew over our heads and landed in front of me.
"Hello, Hydra." I said, patting him.
I turned to look at Nightmare and saw his mouth open slightly, amazed. He reached towards Hydra a bit then hesitated, unsure.
"Hydra meet Nightmare, Nightmare meet Hydra."
Hydra looked at Nightmare and grunted softly. Nightmare reached up and gently touched him on the nose. Hydra allowed the touch and closed his eyes, peaceful. Nightmare had a big smile. I looked at him curiously, amazed by the sight. He sometimes smiled a bit, but he looked truly happy now. It made me feel good too.
"Hydra do you think you can take me and Nightmare on a ride?"
Hydra looked down at me and growled softly, kneeling down so we could get on. Nightmare climbed up and sat on his back, and I quickly joined him. I sat in front of Nightmare and flicked the rains. With one great leap Hydra leapt up in the air and started flying. As Hydra lurched Nightmare wrapped a arm around my waist so he wouldn't fall off. Within a few seconds we were in the sky, and since it was clear that day we could see everything around us in a perfect view.
"This is amazing," He said. He peeked over the edge of Hydras girth, looking at what lay below us. Hydra flew through a wind tunnel, and the breeze launched us forward. We went faster, and glided smoother. Nightmare smiled again and looked around, then he rested his head against my back.
"Thank you."
I blushed and smiled.
"No problem, you deserve it."
"I don't to be honest.. If you knew half the things I did, well, I don't think you would like me as much."
"You could kill the entire universe and I would still like you."
He raised a eyebrow and smiled.
"Is that so?"
I nodded
"It is so."
"Well then I guess you should know, I'm a criminal."
I was a bit surprised, but then again, it didn't bother me. He wasn't the only criminal here.
"Hm? Really? Did you kill people?"
He sighed.
"Yeah. I murdered some people who killed my parents, and then in turn I got hunted down to the end of my days. I guess I had it coming, but I was too young and I had no idea things would come to, well, what I am now. I was worried you would think less of me if I killed someone in front of you, or acted too violent."
I shook my head.
"I would never think less of you..."
He closed his eyes and rested against me some more.
"I'm glad.."
I looked out at the horizon, and saw the sun was almost down already. I looked over my shoulder and saw Nightmare was tired. And so, I pulled on the reins, and Hydra dipped down to land.
