Chapter VI -- Thor
I can barely take everything in. An arrow whizzes past my ear. Another snaps against the ground inches from my feet. I can barely react. The girl is doubled over, hissing and screeching. Her eyes are swirling with complete blackness. Seconds later, she straightens. A confident smirk overtakes her features, and half of an arrow drops from her side. Blood stains her shirt, but it's like she's completely fine.
Loki, however, is not. I rush over to him, raising my hammer almost like a shield. "LOKI!"
Loki moans weakly in response, his eyes closed and his blood black.
I have to save him. I HAVE to save my brother. I need to get him home. Surely someone can help him.
Someone emerges from the dust, holding a bow with an arrow notched. He looks at the girl and shoots her again and again, but every time her body turns to black smoke and the arrow just passes through. She hisses in pain and coughs up something dark, crumpling to the ground. The swirling darkness in her eyes starts to change to normal before turning more pitch black than anything I've ever seen.
Growling in frustration, the archer glares.
"Ullr!"
He turns and glances at me, his expression darkening when he sees Loki.
"WHAT WERE YOU THINKING??" I demand, waving my hands wildly. "You could have killed your future king!"
He snorts, walking over but not quite letting the girl out of his sight. "What were YOU thinking? You could have died yourself! You released a demon!!"
"Not my fault," I mutter, before motioning to Loki. "Well, we have to get back to Asgard now! You've nearly killed Loki and you're going to pay!"
"Alright, but we're taking her, too," he says, nodding towards the girl. I hardly spare a glance at the possessed mortal, but something seems to catch my eye. The girl is curled up on the floor, her eyes back to normal, tears streaming down her cheeks, hands shaking. But there's something different about her...
Her hair has changed color. It clicks in my brain even though I've only even seen the girl a couple of times. What used to be brown is now a dirty, pitch black.
I shrug, trying to remember what he'd said. "Fine, we'll take her with us."
And so we hurry to the nearest portal and back to Asgard.
