The Acronym

There are many variations to the LGBT acronym, so instead of listing them all out, I will just give you the letters and you can piece it together. Don't worry if you don't know about the terms, because you'll read about them in the next few chapters.

L stands for Lesbian.
G stands for Gay.
B stands for Bisexual, Biromantic.
T stands for Transgender or Transsexual.
Q stands for Questioning or Queer.
I stands for Intersex.
A stands for Asexual, Aromantic, or Agender.
P stands for Pansexual, Panromantic, Polysexual, Polyromantic, or Polyamorous.

Most of the time you will just see LGBT, which is meant to include most sexualities and the transgender community. Occasionally the Q for Questioning or Queer is added on to create LGBTQ. Even more occassionally you will see the I for Intersex: LGBTQI. Rarely will you see every single letter listed above in the full acronym.

The letters in LGBT can be rearranged into GLBT or LBGT. All three of these are "official" acronym for the community and should be recognized as such.

An alternate acronym for the community is MOGAI: Marginilized Orientations and Gender Alignments, and Intersex. However, this acronym is fairly new, and not many people recognize it. For this reason, MOGAI often goes unused.

There is a difference between Asexual and Aromantic. Asexual means that they do have a romantic bond but don't wish to have intercoursw. Aromantic means no romantic feelings. But Aromantics can still be interested in intercourse, just not romance.
