The Little Weapon Who Met Her Savior
Night rolled around with ease as I laid in my bed. After last night's dream, my mind was shot in fear of the same thing happening again, but I knew if I was going to get a gear, I would have to be at my best. But, my mind was just full of wonder over the gears that I could not make myself sleep. After two o'clock rolled on, I knew I was going to sleep in, but the gears just sounded so amazing.A gear is a weapon cursed by special medical technicians. The cursed part are abilities from the enemy is concentrated into weapons specialized for the users, but it must accept the user. The abilities parts makes me wonder how strong these enemies really were. The more I think about it the more it makes more sense that over forty percent of the world's population is gone. I have heard of rumors of people dying cause of weapons back firing and rejecting the user. Thinking about gears made my golden eyes tired. Slowly, my eyelids eclipsed over my eyes as my brain stopped thinking.
The next thing I heard was content banging and yelling on the door. Opening my eyes, I was still laying in my bed in my room. Raising my body up, I pinched my arm to see if I was really awake.
A piercing pain shot in the pinched spot. Yep, I am awake. So, the female voice screaming on the other side of the door must be Naomi. Looking at the clock on my desk, I realized I woke up at the time we were supposed to be there. Dang it. Getting out of bed, I started doing my normal retrials: brushing my teeth, putting deodorant on, brushing my hair, grabbing my black practice suit, and putting it on.
After I hurried up and finished everything I needed to do, I opened the door to see Naomi in her white practice uniform, and her face blood shot red in anger. Kiki stood beside her with her tails wrapped around Naomi. I think she was about as scared as I was. Naomi seemed really really mad at me. Wonderful now I have to hear it.
"Why the heck did you sleep in?!" Naomi yelled at me as I walked out the door. Why can she not just relax?
Shutting the door behind me, I started walking towards the Weapons Unit where Richard was probably reading a book. Richard the bookworm is what is known by most of us. Naomi's father told us one time that before the war started he was not like that. He said that Richard hated books but only bought them for his daughter and wife, which went missing during the retrieval.
Looking at Naomi, I noticed she was waiting for an answer about why I did not wake up early. If I told her I stayed awake thinking about gears, she will come up with some smart remark that will make me seem stupid. "I just could not sleep last night." I informed her which was parsley true.
"Why is my partner a complete idiot?" Naomi said slapping her hand against her hand in a joking matter.
"Now, I could go stick you with a noob." I glared at her as if I had won the battle, but I remembered the words my father told me, 'Son, when it comes to women, you will never win.' After being partnered with Naomi, I could totally believe that now.
Grabbing my arm, Naomi looked up at me with her bright blue eyes glistening as she said, "Oh, Cal, you know you could not do that! You love being my partner." Rolling my eyes, I continued walking with Naomi and Kiki.
Smirking, I looked at Naomi and commented, "Yeah. The extra food you do not eat is pretty good."
Slapping me on the chest, I laughed as I felt the stinging pain of Naomi's slap. Looking around the hallway, I noticed that the room has started getting dark as green lights lite up the hall. The change of scenery indicated that we were getting close to the Weapons Unit. I hated this building. The compound was a couple of giant building and training fields surrounded by a wall. The building we are in is the main unit where the Weapons Unit is, most elites and their families live, registration into the army, and the attacks are planned. The only reason I get to live here is cause Commander Derek wanted me to stay close to Naomi.
Clinging on my arm some more, I noticed how scared Naomi was. Picking up Kiki, I placed her in Naomi's arms and continued walking. I knew Kiki could make her relax better than I could.
Arriving to the door in the weapons unit, I quickly pushed open the tall metal door. A man with dark red hair sat on the floor in his military uniform. With his black metal glasses pushed up to his face, his green eyes were focused on reading the little book in front of him. The book was so old and worn out that I could not see the name of the book.
"Sir Richard, I apologize for our lateness. My partner slept in." Naomi bowed her head in apology over my mistake. I just stood there looking around at the many doors surrounding in this long room.
Closing his book, a smile curved on his face as he pushed his glasses further up his pale freckled face. "I remembered how my wife would be so mad at me for sleeping in." I saw the sparkle in his green eyes as he thought of his wife.
"Now, Rich, I am not going to marry, Nao. Nope." I said still looking around at the doors.
"Well, we shall not get into this. I would like to go back to reading." Richard flipped a switch in the wall, and all the doors opened. "As you walk by the doors, you should hear or feel something. If you do, then that is the weapon you will try to get. The further you go back the stronger the weapons get."
Shaking my head, I started walking down the hall with opened doors. Lights lite up in the rooms, but none felt right. Naomi walked up beside me. I figured Kiki stayed back since Kiki is just an animal. Still walking through the hall, I realized I was going deeper and deeper into the hallway. After a few minutes, Naomi and I was still walking through the hallway.
Nothing. Maybe, we were not meant to have a weapon. I hope maybe if we keep on walking I can feel something.
Suddenly, I heard a voice. A quickly child like girl voice say, "Are you going to get me out of here?" Looking at Naomi, I noticed her facial expression did not change at all.
"Did you hear that?" I looked at Naomi.
Staring at me confused, Naomi said, "No I did not."
Walking towards the noise, I said, "Say something again. I hear you." No noise made anything at the doors we walked by until we made it to the end. The last door was shut and made of thick metal. Looking at Naomi, goosebumps run up her arms. By the look on her face, I could tell she heard something, too.
My heart began to race, and my body began burning up. "It is so hot in here." The little girl continued talking to me. Walking up to the door, I pushed at it as hard as I could. I could feel the sweat pouring down my forehead. My body continued burning up.
Pushing it harder, I saw the door budge and start to open. Looking inside, there were two weapons in the corner glowing. In one corner, a bright blue color was glowing from a weapon with blue symbols on it. In the other, a dark red light glistened through the room. The sword was stuck so far in the ground I could only see the handle.
"Get me out." The girl said again. Running up to the sword, I grabbed the handle and tried pulling it out. Instead, I felt my vision disappearing. Then, darkness surrounded me.
When the darkness vanished, I saw a girl with long light purple hair. Her pale skin shined in the darkness as she wore a top tight black and white dress with long sleeves. Her ears were like some from elves. Staring at her, our eyes met. Her red eyes pierced at me as her sharp teeth smiled at me. "So, you are the one that hard me? You seem strong." The little girl seemed excited.
"How are you in a weapon?" I was confused. The guns I used during training did not talk. They did not have people in them.
"I am the weapon. My name is Celina." The little girl got in front of me and started touching my skin. "You are so cold."
I am still confused. "Nice to meet you, Celina. I am Calix, but how did you get here?"
"All I can remember is I was running around outside, and I stopped moving when this man started chanting some ritual." Celina looked sad as she tried to remember that. "I could feel warm creatures walking through here, but no one could hear me. However, you did!" A smile brightened on her face as her small arms wrapped around me.
I held her tight in my arms. None of this made any sense. Who are we fighting? What are we doing here? Why is Celina a weapon? Better question, what is Celina? I had to know. "Celina, do you know what you are? What is going on?"
A giggle came from Celina's voice. "Daddy never told me what is going on, but I am a fire ghoul."
Hold the phone, did she just say ghoul? Are we fighting ghouls? A yawn came from her mouth, and I realized she was tired. I figured I would ask her more questions later. "Would you like to take a nap?" I sweetly asked. I never was good helping little kids, but I like her.
"Yes I would, but if you are going to be my handler ands new friend, you have to do me a favor and mean it!" She looked at me with her red eyes as I saw faith seeping out of them.
A smile curved on my face. I could not let this girl down. "Of course. What is it?"
"Will you get me out of here? Back to the real world." Celina smiled at me. I had to help her. I had to find out what is going on. This was my destiny.
"I promise to help you, Celina." Her sharp teeth shined as her smiled covered her face. I guess me saying that made her happy. I did not blame her for wanting to leave.
"Yay! I am so happy! Oh, wait, now that we are connected you, you have to make a bond with me." Celina smiled as she opened my palm. "This is going to hurt. I am sorry, Mr. Calix." Looking at my palm, her sharp nails pierced through my skin as red blood swarmed out. After that, Celina did the same thing to her hand. "Now, for the blood bond, grab my hand."
I knew this was the right thing to do. Grabbing her bloody hand, I squeezed tight as our blood connected. Her eyes darkened as the room around us started changing. We were not in a dark room any more, but outside with the wind blow against our skin. "That was weird." Celina said as she pulled away and looked at her hand.
"What is?" I asked as I looked at the little girl's face.
"Oh, nothing. That was my first bond, so I understand it feeling weird." She looked up and smiled at me. "Now, we are connected! Do not forget to visit again!" She started waving at me as I smiled at her.
Waving back, I said, "I will. I promise." Everything around me grew dark again. When the light came back, I was in the room from before with Naomi. Glancing at Naomi, I noticed her holding a bow tightly against her as she stared at me with something I had never seen before. She was looking at me with fear.
Confused, I started walking to her when I felt something metal in my hand. Looking to my left side, I saw a sword in my hand. The blade was red with black mist moving inside of it. This was not just any sword. This sword was Celina.
The door we were in slammed opened as I saw Richard looking at us exhausted like he had been running. Kiki followed behind him and checked up on us. "Do not touch those.." He stopped when he noticed the weapons in our hands. "You two are still alive."
"Of course we are still alive." I said with a smart remark. Looking at the wall, I saw the hilt for Celina.
Grabbing it, before I put Celina up, I heard her say, "Goodnight, Calix! Thank you." I could hear the excitement in your voice. I responded saying, "You are welcome, Celina. Goodnight." Then, I pushed her in the hilt.
"Did you just talk to your weapon?" Richard asked me as he looked at me concerned.
"No. I talked to Celina. You have some explaining to do. Now. Why is a little girl in a weapon?" I ordered Richard to say.
"A little girl? Not in mine." Naomi said as the bow turned into a demon looking key. "A teenage boy is in mine." There is someone in Naomi's weapon, too? What is going on?
"You two should of never came down here." Richard commented still looking in fear.
Walking up to Richard, I pushed him against the wall by the collar. "Snap out of it, old man! Now tell me what the hell is going on before I kick your butt up and down this room!" I ordered. I had no idea why I was getting so mad over a little girl I had never met before today, but being trapped in a sword had to be no fun. She was lonely and felt abandoned. I could tell. This monster knew something. I had to know.
"Calix, stop! Do not hurt him!" Naomi grabbed my shoulders trying to pull me away while Kiki whimpered in discomfort.
"Please. I do not know anything." Richard insisted. Letting go of Richard, I noticed his pocket glowing. Reaching inside, I grabbed the messenger.
The message did not say who it was from but only the sentence, 'Keep the kids away from the subjects. We are not done ripping their emotions and other human like abilities.' So whoever this is knows about why Celina is like this. The message did not say who it was from.
Looking at Richard, I said, "You tell whoever this is, no one is going to lay a hand on Celina. I will find my answers. But, I also have a mission to rest up on. Naomi, I am leaving." Walking out of the room, I kept Celina on my hip as Naomi and Kiki hurried to fall behind me.
"Calix, what was that about?" Naomi yelled at me. To be honest, I had no idea. Celina was just a little girl. Now, she is my weapon.
"Do you feel close to your weapon?" I asked her.
"Well, yeah. We made a bond." She added.
"Well, Celina and I made a promise. Come hell or high water. I will get her out of this sword. Even if I have to die."
