CAUCASIAN vs WHITE
CAUCASIANCaucasian is a term describing people who have a light skin tone due to their ancestry coming from light-skinned places such as Europe and East Asia. Caucasian more applies to genetics rather than skin colour itself.
Example: Jo's family is from Ireland. All of her family has lighter skin and she has no ancestry from dark-skinned countries. When she took her survey, she chose "Caucasian" as her race.
WHITE
White describes people who have a light skin tone no matter their ancestry or race. White does not have to do with the geographical origins of a person or their family.
Example: Opal's mom is white and her dad is black. She is bi-racial but she looks more white than anything. If she took a survey she would most likely select "Bi-racial" as her race, but because of her skin tone she can consider herself white. Even though she considers herself white, she is not completely Caucasian.
