Blazing Soul

Luna lives in a world where superhuman abilities, elemental powers, shapeshifting, and spirit animals are commonplace. She goes to a training academy with her friends, Onyx, Avalon, Aeria, and Electrio. But there are bad people out there, growing more powerful by the day, including Shadow, the elusive villain with the element of Darkness and the ability to steal someone's powers. Chapter 2

I tap in the code, my fingers dancing across the keypad, and then press "OK." I hear a whirring sound, followed by a clatter as the pills shoot into the bin. I sweep the light green globules onto my plate, and move on.
Mallory, the plump woman in charge of dispensing food, uses one of her many arms to scoop up a lump of sticky orange goo and put it on my plate. I grab a spoon and move up in line, to the drink dispenser. There, I select the purple button, and fizzy purple liquid shoots out of the nozzle. I fill up my cup, grab a straw, and head over to the table with Avalon, Aeria, Electrio, and Onyx.
I pick up my spoon and take a big bite of the orange food. It's drippy and sweet, like always. Then, I swallow one of the green pills, and sip the purple soda. The pills are supposed to help me clear my mind so I can communicate with animals more, but the soda and orange stuff is just for taste. I take another large bite of the sugary orange goo, followed by a drink of the soda.
"What's your first class?" Avalon asks, breaking the silence. She gulps down a large drink of her bright yellow soda.
Onyx nibbles on her dark blue bread roll. "
