The Next Night
Rose cried in EJ's arms. He has his mask off. "It's okay..." Rose looked up. "No it isn't! I'm too kind to others, yet I beat myself up. I almost die. Every day! And I forget you... I don't even know how. In the heat of battle, you don't see anything but your life flashing before your eyes. What am I doing?" EJ nodded. He pushed her out in front of him. "Darn it. You're right. You are too hard on yourself. But you saved both Sally and Toby. Yet you survived. You made Offendy go away. You saved us all." Rose looked up, and kissed him. "Thank you, Jack." He nodded, and smiled. "On a less depressing note, how are you feeling?" She shrugged. "Side hurts, much like my mental health. But I'm okay!" She smiled, trying to escape EJ's worried eyes. "No."EJ shook his head. "You aren't fine. Your anger caused you to kill someone. Your not fine. What's going on? Black Rose, I'm worried about you." Rose looked up. "I don't know. Offendy wouldn't leave me alone, and I try to save everyone. I just don't understand why I'm so heartless." EJ smiled. "Becuase your as tough as nails. Sometimes you can be as dumb as one, but you won't give up." Rosealmost backhanded him, and she smiled. "No argument there." EJ nodded. "I know."
He grabbed her hand. "You are as brave as a freaking lion, and as smart as anything. I won't love you if you were any different. Jeff wanted you to love him, but I bet just loved your form. I don't care about that." She blushed. "EJ..." He silenced her with a kiss. She breathed. "Darn, every time." She looked down. EJ coughed. "Out of everything I know about you, I don't know one thing. The day you were born."
Rose paled. "I... It's nothing special. No one needs to celebrate it." EJ looked at her. She laid down. "It's true!" She argued. EJ shook his head. "I need to know! Come on, Rose!" He leaned over her. She blushed. "What day is it today?" EJ thought about it for a minute. "April 3." Blood returned to her face. "It's in two days." EJ ran out of the room. Rose tried to stop him, but he was already gone. She giggled. "I would've bet my life he was going to do that." She picked up his mask and put it on. It was comfortable.
She laid down. She closed her eyes for a couple minutes, and when she woke up, Offenderman was leaning over her. "EJ. You broke me." He didn't recognize her. "Crud." She whispered.
