Birthday Board
The party went on, my cousins being weirdos like usual, my older brother being caught up in a video game with my other cousin. I had three cousins. There was a 9-year-old named Jordynn, an 11-year-old named Ashley, and a 12-year-old named Donovan. I also had a twin sister named Kathryn who we called Kate for short and an older brother who was 15 named Nathan. My sister and I had just turned 13, our first teenage year."Emma!" Kathryn called out to me, "Can we use the Ouija Board thingy now? We need you here to make it work!"
"Fine, I'm coming." I said, a grin on my face. We had just gotten an Ouija Board as a present and anticipation rose as we waited to mess with it. I knew we'd screw something up as we always do. Every time we came over to our cousins house for any occasion, something went kinda wrong. Maybe not too wrong, but something that would just mess up and everyone would either laugh or get mad. Usually it's laughter. Anyways, I scurried off from the kitchen into the living room to see everyone there. Nathan and Donovan were still playing their game, paying almost no attention to us. Ashley looked focused on watching them, but said hello to me when I walked in. Jordynn jumped up behind me and said, "We gonna start now?"
"Yeah, you ready Emma?" Ashley added, looking over at me.
"Yes, I guess." I answered, sitting beside Ashley. Ashley read over the rules, trying to help us understand them and such, though I could tell she barely understood them herself.
After taking about 5 minutes to finally understand things, Kate said, "So we put our fingers on the thingy thing?"
"Yes, we put our fingers on the thingy thing." Jordynn answered.
"It's called a Planchette!" I said, a bit of a French accent in my voice.
"Planchette!" Ashley repeated, "Now put your fingers on the thingy thing!"
We all put our index fingers on the Planchette and conversed on what question to ask, when finally deciding on the question, "What question should we ask you, Ouija, O Wise One?" Ashley was the one to say it aloud.
