The Dream
I feel my consciousness regaining. The exhaust from last night fading. I wake up in a field of flowers. Tulips brush against my face."What...?" I say confused.
I look around and see a girl running around the field. A voice calls her from a house. I stand up and walk with her to the house.
"Hello, little girl." I say.
The girl doesn't respond.
"Hello?" I stop walking. She walks through me. Yes, right through my body as if I didn't exist. I catch up to her.
"Hello mummy!" the little girl says.
"Hello. Come with me quickly." her mother says.
I walk with them to a room in the back of the house.
"Wait here." her mother says.
I follow her into what looks to be the bathroom. She pulls out a knife. I gasp.
"I'm coming back!"
"Okay mummy."
She walks back to the room and locks the door. She pulls the knife out of her pocket.
"Mummy? What are you doing? MUMMY?!" she shouts. "HELP! HELP ME! HELP ME PLEASE!"
Her mother cuts her arms, as if to torture her before she kills. Then she goes behind the little girl as she shouts and cries. She slits her throat. The screaming stops. The little girl's head lolls to the side, blood dripping from her mouth.
Then I woke up. This time I actually did. My phone was blaring. I picked it up and answer the call.
"We have an assignment for you." the man on the phone said.
"Alright, I'll be there."
