A New Prince Charming
I opened my eyes, expecting to be in my room, but I wasn't. I was in the palace again, but this time, I could tell that the king was holding back anger, but was smirking. What could he be possibly be up to? The queen wasn't with him either."Well, would you like to stay here? Forever with me?"
"...No."
"Ah, yes, that's right- after the little thing you had with Rapunzel, you're having second thoughts. Well, you see, I guess I really don't need you then, I just need your brother-"
"You couldn't possibly get my brother...He's out in college right now-"
"Not anymore...~" He held up a jar full of water, and I saw Eric thrashing around, drowning.
"Drop him!! NOW!!!"
"Oh really? You mean it? Okay-"
"NO!!!....You sick bastar- What do you want?!"
"Well, I need a Prince Charming. And apparently, you failed my wishes."
"...Why are you doing this?"
"Didn't you guess already? I'm creating a world full of stories. And believe me, there are other princesses other than your dear Rapunzel. I already collected them all, and now, I need a Prince Charming. But of course, you can't fill the role, so now I'm starting off with another guy. Your dear, old brother. And besides, you wouldn't want to keep Rapunzel waiting, now do you?" He pointed towards a mirror and it showed Rapunzel in my house.
"H...Hello? Mom? Dad? Where are you?"
The vision disappeared from the mirror.
"Now, you wouldn't want to keep her waiting, would you?"
"...Let go of my brother."
"Nuh uh uh~ Here's a deal- if you want your dear brother back, then be a good boy and scurry off to your own world! BUT, when he'll come back to you depends on how well he carries out my desires~ It can range from a few minutes to forever-"
I lunged at the jar, but he pushed me off and then pushed me towards the door.
"No deal?~ Too bad for you~"
And the door closed on me, and I was stuck in the real world.
"....Eugene?"
I turned around to see Rapunzel, my eyes watery.
"Eugene....What's the matter?"
"I lost my brother."
"Now, now...What shall I do to the next Prince Charming?~"
"Weren't you supposed to release him hours ago?"
"...Ah yes, that's right...Thanks for reminding me..."
The window opened, and outside was the sea.
"Do not let me down, Prince Charming~"
He broke the jar by smashing it against the window sill, but before all the water escaped, he threw it in the sea.
