Who Would have Known?
"We gather here today for the crowning of the eighteenth princess of the Valerian Empire."The old man said solemnly. "Mistress, step forth."
She stepped forward quietly, hands held gently at her waist. Her cyan eyes scanned the crowds of people. Searching for someone she hadn't seen
"You promised, my friend..."
Just then, Lady Cana noticed a man clad in wool, pushing his way through the audience.
"Excuse me! Oh, pardon! Sorry!" He stuttered as he worked his way to the front. The man's gaze shifted up to the lady dressed in white.
"Cana? Cana! It's really you!"
The woman nodded.
"I can't believe it! You're going to become a princess!?"
And other simple nod was Cana's only response.
A man dressed in a formal black suit approached Cana, holding a little box in his gloved palms.
Cana removed the lid from the little white box. The princess's eyes glimmered like tiny pools of water that were sitting in the sunlight.
"What are these? They're so sparkly."
The black suited man spoke solemnly.
"These your highness, are Valeria's Clips. These are magical golden pieces of jewelry. When worn by an ancient spirit who reads aloud the queen's letter, they have the ability to let the bearer of the clips speak to Queen Val herself.
A smile lit up on Sonata's lightly tanned face.
"Valeria? Queen of Spirits? The Queen of Spirits?" He said excitedly.
Again, Cana nodded.
Cana's servant took a glance at Sonata.
"Every princess needs a noble knight."
The blonde haired man's sapphire orbs gleamed.
"Really?"
"Yes, Sonata. Really.", Cana replied, extending a hand for her new knight. Astounded, Sonata placed his hand in the palm of the white gowned princess, who placed her other hand gently atop her friend's.
"Cana...", he said shakily, his ocean blue eyes boring into the girl's shimmering teal eyes. He dropped his fade to the ground, breathing heavily, his sandy bangs flowing over his face like waterfalls of pure gold.
"I remember something..."

Cool fingertips brushed against his battered and weary face. Mustering every drop of strength he had, the knight cracked open his heavy eyelids. Pain. It's all he felt. He let out a strained wince as he felt a hand stroke over the deep stab wound in the center of his stomach.
"Shh, save your strength, sir... Forrest has gone for help...", a feminine voice spoke soothingly.
"I'm glad it was me...And not you.
"I said hush. You're wasting your energy!" The woman said worriedly, not noticing the blood pooling up in her hero's mouth.
"Look, My princess. It doesn't matter. You know as well as I do that I'm already gone. But please, my friend... Can you s-sing for me?"
"Which song?", The princess asked.
"Your favorite song..."
"Oh the past...So innocent and free...Without those troubles we now can see. What was once just a friendship, grows more from moon to moon. Oh the past...Why was it over so soon..."
She didn't even notice the single tear that slid down the man's face as his sapphire eyes closed.
"Please, Sonata...Wake up?"
The man still remained lifeless on her lap. She couldn't help but notice how peaceful he looked just lying there. It was almost like the old days...
"Oh, Sonata." , The princess silently wept, clutching onto the fuzz of her friend's wool sweater.
"Please don't cry, Cana. Don't worry. I'm sure we'll meet again. Something deep inside tells me that we'll see eachother again...
"Someday..."
