Too Haate or Too Love: Lotil's Story

Forgive But Don't Forget

Walking quietly down the path leaving the forest far behind her, Lotil trudged on for hours getting more and more exhausted by the minute the further she traveled. Finally, she stopped beside an old log crawling over to the other side of off the path, laid her aching mind on its rough surface and closed her eyes to slumber but as sleep deprived her the ears on her head twitched to the side when footsteps on the pathway approached from the direction she came from. Keeping still and quiet, the three sets of footsteps approached but stopped right beside the log where the hybrid lay on the other side went still unsure if the stranger's noticed her yet. Lotil peeks one eye open to catch sight of three familiar figures, almost jumping out of skin she shut her eye and held still, it was Queen Moon, Star Butterfly, and Buff Frog! "Queen Moon, we must rest for bit you look exhausted" the monster frog said standing a distant from the log.
Queen Moon huffed "But we need to find...the sanctuary" she breathed out.
Star went to her mom's side "Buff Frog's right, we need to rest a little while maybe even camp it's getting pretty late" Star insisted setting her and her mom down on top of the log causing Lotil to shift back a bit uncomfortable.
Moon let out a sigh "Fine, but just for tonight we may never know who or what dangers could be lurking around, we'll camp here for the night" she stood up walking past Buff Frog.
"Where are you going?" Buff Frog seemed to ask watching the queen head down the pathway.
She looks back at the frog Monster "I am getting us wood for fire, keep Star safe I won't be long" Buff Frog nodded watching her leave.

Lotil attempted to sneak away from Star and Buff Frog while both had their back facing away from her, but setting her foot down she stepped atop of a twig making a loud snapped. Instinctively, Star and Buff Frog turned around alarmed once they had sights on Lotil.
"YOU!" Both Star and Buff Frog said in unison.
Lotil stood there looking at them arms crossed "Yes, it's me. Why so surprised?" She asked.
Buff Frog responded "Well we thought you died in explosion like some of the other Monsters did, accept Toffee who we know is alive."
Lotil sighed "Yeah, no I got out in time and as for Toffee yes he is alive and partly well" she explained.
Star raised her wand at the hybrid, with half a shard on it "So you know where Toffee is? Where is he!" She demanded.
The lizard wolf raised up her arms in defense "Whoa okay, chill. If you want to know I really can't I'm afraid."
Star's wand glowed brighter "Why not?" She asked gripping it's handle tightly.
"Oh well heh, me and Toffee are sort of a thing at the moment but heck that's not the reason. I have loyalty to Monsters I care about and even love if I revealed their location to dangers like you than I'd be a traitor to my own kind" Lotil explained looking at Buff Frog angrily.
Buff Frog glared at her "I maybe traitor to you but not many Mewmans like Star or Queen Moon have helped are kind. They have helped me and now I help them" he pointed a finger at the hybrid "And besides if you are really loyal to Toffee why are you not with him now?"
The question caught Lotil off guard "W-well, about that....we had an argument with each...other" she rubbed her shoulder turning away.
Star raised an eyebrow "An argument? Why, what happened?"
The hybrid turned around to face them "I was trying to reason with him. That wand shard he had on the palm of his hand which I may say is completely bone seriously! His right arm is bone, no flesh nor muscle! Just bone.
I tried telling him to take a beak from the whole magic junk but he says he knows what he's doing? Oh please! The magic from that wand shard was corrupting him, he wasn't being himself. Than he insulted me, I insulted him he even almost hit me afterwards I ran off to go find a place I could settle down a bit but didn't expect to find you guys here" Lotil sat down on the log sadly.
Star and Buff Frog looked at each other than back to Lotil.
"I'm sorry to hear that" Star spoke sounding sympathetic.
The hybrid merely grunted "Don't be, it's not your fault. Besides, what's there too lose? As soon as your mother returns it'll all get even worse."
Before anyone else could speak, at that moment Queen Moon returned with a stack of sticks and wood in her hand.

"Found some firewood, was everything alright whi-" Moon cut off when she noticed Lotil sitting on the log, dropped her wood stunned "YOU!" she shouted angrily.
Lotil's wing tightened on her back, she growled "Yes it's me, long time no see."
Moon instinctively pulled Star back "Star stay away from this Monster, unlike Buff Frog I know she's bad" Star was confused.
"Wait....mom do you know this monster?" Star asked looking at her than Lotil who just sat there quietly.
"Yes, she invaded the castle and tried attacking me."
"What!" Star looked back at Lotil "You tried harming my mother?"
The hybrid remained sitting, sighed and looked at Star "Yes, I'm afraid so. But instead she harmed me-" Lotil stood up turning to her left back side was a large scar remained from her where her wing was "--- she fried my wing off so I left after that."
Buff Frog camera up to her "But why you attack queen?" He asked her.
Lotil faced the frog "I was grieving. You see, around when I was 18 a swarm of Mewman soldiers destroyed my village, my father told me to take my mother off to safety but this soldier attacked us using magic" she began pacing around "I instinctively tried fighting him off but was overpowered and before he blasted me, my mom took the hit and died in my arms" the hybrid sat down tears gripping her eyelids.
They all were silent.
"That's really....sad to hear" Star broke the silence.
Lotil seemingly snorted "Yeah it is, what's worse my father blamed my actions for it and I ran away hurting after that. Sometime later though we made up again so all is fine" she explained sitting up "but besides that, I was angry at those Mewmans I wanted revenge and I thought why not kill the queen? Yeah I didn't think that through at all til now."
Queen Moon raised her eyebrows but stayed where she was "So you blamed me for your mother's death? But I wasn't there when it happened" she defended herself.
Lotil growled back "EVEN IF YOU WEREN'T IT STILL DOESN'T MEAN YOU WEREN'T THE ONE WHO SENT THEM!" another silence.
The hybrid sighed shakily and faced Queen Moon standing up "I'm sorry...for everything. I should have known that killing you was never an option nor will it be, I have put in much thought of my actions and will move on. Forgive me or not, but the dislike I have for you will not fade" she held out a claw to the Queen.
Moon hesitated "Well even though I don't often forgive you're kind but I might just do so if you promise to keep away from my family."
Lotil bowed "I will do just that your highness."
Queen Moon was surprised but ignored it "Good, than all is fine between us than"
"It is now."
Both took hold of each other's hands shaking it before letting go afterwards.

"I must go now, may bygones be bygones" Lotil walked backwards away from them before turning around swiftly back on the path. Ignoring her rivaled enemies leaving them far behind her.
