The Game of Truth

Lotil's eye shot open and immediately jolted upwards tears swept down her face, her dream in the end was nothing but a black void dragging her into darkness leaving it empty she shook breathing heavily growled in frustration, wiped the hot tears away "Stupid freaking tears, ugh i hate when that happens" she sniffed and looked around the room to see everything was back to the way it was. Lotil looked to her right side to find a still sleeping Toffee, quietly she slipped out of the bed to not awake him and made her way into the shower. Once she turned on the water leaned up against the wall for a little bit letting the water fall down her face rethinking about her whole crazy dream but shook the thought away and went on washing her body. Stepping out of the shower, a towel wrapped around her the lizard wolf noticed Toffee had gone probably into the other room giving her the chance to slip into her daily clothing. Her snout lifted up catching a great smell from the kitchen, slipping her cut off top on let the wavering smell guide Lotil to find Toffee cooking up a bit of delicious pancakes. The hybrid's mouth watered making her way over to Toffee leaning over his shoulders.

"Sweet Mewni that smells great" she said taking in the smell.

Toffee smiled looking at her "Thank you, it'll be done soon" suddenly Lotil giggled at the bit of pancake mix that was placed on his apron and face "What's so funny?" He asked Her raising an eyebrow.

Lotil grinned "You're covered in pancake mixing Toffee, that's what's funny" she giggled.

Toffee blushed lightly in embarrassment "Oh yeah I had some trouble mixing it earlier" he chuckled.

Lotil smirked at him getting an idea, got atop the counter and  stood on her knees to reach the height of the lizard's face. Toffee looked at her questionably "Lotil, what are you doing?" Without an answer the hybrid leaned in and used her slimy blue dog like dog to lick off the pancake mix that was formerly on Toffee's right cheek. His face flushed a shiver running down his spine once she pulled away licking her lips satisfied "Mm, tasty" Lotil purred laughing at the frozen Toffee who showed a very stunned expression. She leaped off the table and headed towards the living room calling behind her: "Toffee! Might wanna concentrate on the pancakes or they'll burn!" Toffee snapped out of his daze and returned to the pancakes that fried on the pan his face still flushed red.
Lotil sat on the couch grabbing a book titled 'Tales of The Ciphers' when a knock was heard from the door. Sighing, she got up off the couch and headed towards the doorway opening it there stood Hickory holding a strange cubic box in her hands. "Hey Lotil!" The hyena cat greeted with a smile Lotil smiled back "Sup Hickory! What brings you here?" The lizard wolf asked.
Hickory jumped up excited "You won't believe what I just found!" She held out the box to show her fellow hybrid friend.
Lotil took hold of the object turning it over to observe it "Whoa, what is this?"
Hickory squealed "This here is a game called Truth or Punishment, you have to tell the truth or be punished in the worse way possible."
Lotil raised both eyebrows intrigued and yet nervous about the game "So this cube thing asks you questions and you have to answer honestly no matter how personal?" She looked at the cube than Hickory.
Hickory nodded grinning "Indeed! I've never played it before but I heard about it and wanted to play with you and Toffee if you guys were interested that is" the hybrid nudged Lotil with her elbow.
The other hybrid felt unsure but shrugged and gave a smile "Why not? I doubt it'll be too bad. Come on in Hickory" she signaled for her friend inside, with a little skip Hickory followed gleefully into the cave the door shutting behind her.

Lotil set the cube down on the coffee table once Toffee had walked in holding two plates of pancakes he jumped when he saw Hickory sitting in one of the leather chairs "Oh hello Hickory" he seemed a little surprised once setting down the plates "Hey FeeFee! Good seeing you again" Hickory grinned.
Toffee rolled his eyes "I told you before not to call me that" Hickory laid back in the leather chair over one end of it's elbow laughing "I'll call you whatever I please, FeeFee at least until you learn not to be so uptight" he glared at her.

Lotil giggled "Thanks for the pancakes Toffee" she announced getting his attention, he nodded looking at her "Your welcome, also does she really have to be here?" He questioned feeling annoyed about the hyena cat's presence, the hybrid laughed "Yes Toffee, she brought over a game we could all play" she lifted up the cube "It's called Truth or Punishment."

Toffee gave the object a confused expression "Truth or Punishment? Like Truth or Dare?" He questioned.
Hickory shrugged "Something like that, but not really you see this cube asks you simple and sometimes personal questions which you have to give an honest answer. If you lie you'll be punished" she explained evily smiling.

"Uh...is it safe?" He asked getting uneasy.
"Heck if I know I just found it in the Earth Dimensional trash, it was crushed but I managed to repair it" Hickory crossed her arms proudly.
"Well, let's play it than, where's the switch for this thing?" Lotil shifted the cube around when her thumb pressed down a button which lit the cube up in blue glittering lights. Alarmed, Lotil dropped the cube which instead of falling lifted up in the air and spoke: "Welcome to the game, Truth or Punishment! Before we began you must pinky promise to tell the truth and ONLY the truth!" It announced loudly lifting a little box big enough for each of their pinky finger to be placed in making the promise.
Hickory was first, curling her fingers leaving out her pinky claw and placed it in the little box "I promise to tell the truth" she vowed removing her pinky. Lotil went next sticking her pinky claw in "I promise to tell the truth" than removed her finger.
Lotil and Hickory looked over at Toffee, he was unsure what to do but stuck his pinky in the box anyway "I promise to tell the truth"once said, the box floated up and formed a room around all three Monsters. Hickory squealed with excitement, Lotil laughed at her reactions awed at the sudden change around them Toffee just decided not to let it all get to him and sat there in a chill manner.
The box floated above them and asked the first question: "Alright, do you have a crush on someone?" Hickory snorted "That's easy, no I don't at least not anymore hehe."
Lotil turned her eyes to Toffee "Yes, yes I do it's obviously Toffee" she giggled Toffee smiled at her.
"I am the same for Lotil, she is rather a unique Monster I adore" he grinned.
The box turned green "Correct!" It shouted "Next question, have you ever battled someone?"
The question burned into Lotil's mind rehearsing her latest battles "Yes, one with a Monster, one Hickory, and....uh...one up against the Queen of Mewni" she sank down remembering that battle.
Hickory gave her a look of surprise "Wait? You fought the queen? Nice! Now than, yes I have battled against Lotil and a few other Monsters in the past" she smugly smiled.
Toffee seemed to give a shocked look at Lotil about the whole battling queen thing but didn't question it and answered "Yes, one against a princess and maybe some other Monsters too" he said adjusting his sitting position.
The box turned green "Correct! Next one, have any of you wanted a family?" The box asked.
Lotil tensed up at the question "M-maybe, I don't know! No....?" She trailed off.
Hickory was calm when she answered "Hm, no sure I've almost got to a point where I got pregnant but that didn't happen due to some weird problem I had so...nope."
Toffee slightly got nervous at the question stuttered "Ah...no" he said truthfully.
The box turned green "Correct again! Last one, what is your most personal secret?" Everyone immediately felt on edge each of them laughing nervously unsure what to say. The box got impatient "Well?"
Hickory gulped "Something personal? Hehe...well sometimes at night when it's really dark I sleep with a stuffed toy and a night light...." Nervous laughter broke from her throat.
Toffee quietly laughed, Lotil elbowed him.
Toffee groaned when it was his turn to answer "Hm, guess I have no choice. I uh... secretly talk to myself in the mirror and say: 'Hey, handsome you look rather fine today' than flex my muscles....or something" he smiled uneasily and looked down embarrassed, Hickory trying not to break out in laughter.
Lotil, took a deep breathe "Let's see, my most personal secret I'd say is um...sometimes I go online and write really sappy fanfictions about other beings I believe would and should become a good match" she sweated nervously.
Hickory and Toffee gave her looks "What!? It's true! If you've read them you'd see what I mean!" Lotil huffed getting defensive.

The box turned green "Very correct! Well done you all have passed, til next time" the room disappeared and the cube went still dropping on to the table. Everyone remained sitting where they were, in awkward silence Hickory moved from the chair and smiled "That was fun! Anyone up for another round?" She asked.
"No!" Lotil and Toffee both said in unison. Throw that thing away!" Toffee demanded.
Hickory shrugged "If you say so" with that she walked outside and threw the registration cube over the steep hill out of sight.
Returning inside sat back down in the chair and took one plate of pancakes off the counter.
"That one was mine" Toffee glared at her, Hickory didn't seem to care and continued eating. The lizard sighed.
Lotil nudged him "I can share mine with you" she offered handing him an extra fork and knife, he smiled taking the utensils.
"Thank you"
"Your welcome"
All three Monsters decided just to forget about the whole cube thing and just sit back and enjoy some good pancakes.
