Til We Meet Again

After the day Regimen had come over to see Lotil after all those years they were both able to make up for past mistakes and forgive each other catching up on old times but soon her father had to leave for important feild work said his goodbyes and left yesterday late afternoon. The hybrid was passed out in her bed fast asleep with a slight snore, a loud ringing began chiming loudly Lotil groaned lifting her head up towards the side it was her home phone device someone obviously calling. Picking it up, she grunted "Hello...?"

"Lotil? Ya there? Hello!" It was Hickory on the line.

Lotil sighed "Yes, I'm here what do you want?" The hybrid asked.

"Okay, I know you're probably tired but this will be worth your time once you hear what I just found!" The hyena cat sounded excited.

"Really?" She yawned "What is it?"

"Dude! It's a Monster Temple!"

"What? Your kidding."

"Nope, it's true. If you come over to the Jaggy Mountains I'll show you. Trust me, it's really awesome."

"Alright fine, I'll be there. You better not be deceiving me Hickory."

"I'm not I swear! You won't be sorry."

"I better not be. Seeya than."

Lotil soon hung up the phone and laid back on the bed for a quick second before stretching out her arms and legs, forcing herself out of bed and into her morning clothing. Retrieving her staff just in case, the hybrid walked out the door and upwards the steep hill, made her way over towards the Jaggy Mountains to see this Monster Temple Hickory supposedly found. Leaping up a few trees to make speed towards that direction she heard voices near by, immediately keeping up in the tree tops Lotil spots familiar figures. Squinting her eyes she could make out the white haired figure as Queen Moon and the Blonde haired Princess Star, her eyes narrowed angrily looking at them but also questionable as to why they would be out in the forest to began with. Shrugging it off, Lotil continues her journey to the mountains.

Hickory was leaned up against a rock formations awaiting Lotil's arrival her eyes caught sight of a figure coming her way, lifting her head she noticed Lotil dashing on over. The hybrid was exhausted once she had made full appearance.
"Glad you could make it" Hickory smiled.

Lotil huffed and looked the other hybrid "Yeah, yeah. Now where is this 'Monster Temple' you've found?" She asked air quoting.

Hickory rolled her eyes "Just follow me up this ridge, it's not too far up there" she pointed up and began climbing the rocks.

The lizard wolf sighed irritated but followed behind her friend with no complaint. For a good fifteen minutes, both hybrids had to avoid showering bits of rocks on to each other and from slipping as well. Finally gripping the top of the ridge, Hickory being the first up helped Lotil afterwards.

"Here we are" Hickory had one arm held out to introduce the large Temple sitting in front of them.

Lotil's mouth gaped in awe "Whoa, you were right about it being a Monster Temple. This is cool!"

The hyena cat grinned "Told you, though it may be in ruins some parts of it are still standing. So let's go take a look inside!" She insisted running towards it.

Lotil went after her "Hey, wait up!" She shouted.

Both Monsters curiosity grew once they entered the domain of the abandoned Temple, their eyes glanced at every remaining detail of it. Lotil found old drapes looking to be ripped laying on the floor and outside a waterfall fell out of the mouth of a statue head of a dragon like monster. Walking around the hybrid caught sight of a pile of corn, curiously she walked over towards the pile picking a piece up to sniff it.
"Corn? But isn't this Mewman food?" Lotil wondered.

Hickory came up behind looking just as confused when she noticed the corn too "Yeah, how exactly did it get here? You don't think someone else is here do you?"

Lotil shook her head "I don't think so, this place doesn't look as fit to live in anymore, I mean half of this place is in remains!" She turned her head towards the destroyed area of the Temple.

"Well, if you say so cause this corn looks fresh Lotil I don't believe we're the only ones here" Hickory sounded really uneasy now.

"Now that you mention it..." As the lizard wolf studied the corn, Hickory tensed up suddenly.

"Who goes there?" A voice had announced startling both Monsters. Lotil dropped the corn "Hide" she whispered.

Eventually both ran behind a large pillar hearing footsteps near by. "I know you're here! Show yourself!" The voice shouted.

Hickory quivered "Nobody's here!" She immediately clamped her hands over her mouth.

Lotil glared at her "Hickory you idiot."

Hickory responded frantically "I'm sorry! I didn't mean too."

The voice rang again "Alright, enough hiding. Show yourselves now" it demanded.

Lotil and Hickory sighed in defeat and took a step out from behind the pillar. Hickory shaking in fear while Lotil remained with her eyes directed from the stranger who had caught them both expecting something bad to happen she held her weapon "Whatever you plan to do with us, just make it quick" she insisted.

"Now why would I do that?" The stranger's tone suddenly softened alarming Hickory and Lotil.

Lotil's ears perked recognizing the voice of the creature immediately looked up and right there stood Toffee alive. The lizard wolf stared at him unsure what to say, her heart was pounding uncontrollably she felt a mix of full joy and sadness tears were trying to escape her eyes but wiped them away glancing over at the lizard who's hair was a little out of place, wore only his white button up shirt, black jeans, and what really got her attention was his right hand was no longer skin it was full on bone. In the palm of his body hand Lotil could make out a half broken shard similar to the wand she had seen before the explosion that day thinking about the deathly power of such magic made her uneasy.

"T-Toffee? You're alive" she managed to say, Hickory's mouth gaped open looking at Toffee and back to Lotil completely confused about the situation.

Toffee smiled at her nodding "It's been a while my dear" he suddenly began approaching her, Lotil got tense though her eyes still got on the shard piece in his hand stepping back once he had reached a hand out to her.

"Lotil, what's the matter?" He was surprised at how she suddenly stood back from him.

Lotil held both her arms turning away from him slightly shaking "It's you're hand...it has a wand shard on it" She said in a stressed tone.

"Yeah, what about it?" He raised both eyebrows.

She rubbed her shoulders looking down "It's just...are you able to control it's power? I just want to be sure nothing has changed about you" the hybrid gazed at him.

Toffee stared down at his bone hand which held the shard piece than back at Lotil "I can control it just fine Lotil. Nothing has changed about who I am, I don't see the problem he-" he was cut off when Lotil jerked around in a fit of anger and fear.

"THE PROBLEM IS THE WAND!" Lotil screamed out tears barely noticeable, her hands were both held in fists.

Hickory ran up to her friend's side concerned and placed both hands on her shoulders "Lotil calm down alright, don't get to tense with yourself" she spoke calmly trying to settle down Lotil's anger.

Lotil took a deep breathe in and crossed her arms "I'm sorry Toffee it's just being around anything magical like that wand shard terrifies me. Ever since I was 18 a small village I lived in was being attacked by Mewmans, I was retreating with my mother but than this soldier attacked us" she started explaining the whole situation with her mother being killed by Mewman magic, losing her wing to Queen Moon's magic, and the whole explosion that happened when the wand was detonating in a blast of horror at least from what she seen.
Lotil frowned feeling heart ache from all that's happened in her life.
Toffee's expression was sympathy for Lotil he faced down at his wand hand again clutching it into a fist, his face becoming more caring now he walks behind the hybrid who tensed once he had wrapped both arms around her waist and letting his head lay atop of hers pulling her into a hug.

"Lotil, listen to me. I can understand why you're so afraid of such power you are afraid it might corrupt or kill you but I won't let that happen I promise, even if I have the wand on my own hand now it doesn't make me any different from before. I'd never dream of harming you with it" he soon spun the hybrid around to face her both his hands placed on her brightly colored cheeks "I love you Lotil, I promise you there's nothing to be afraid of your a strong girl and I know you can pull through."

Lotil's eye glimmered with bits of tears blinked them away staring into his yellow eyes, her tail wagging "I love you too Toffee and thank you" without thinking Lotil grabbed Toffee by the ends of his red tie pulling him forwards at her both their snouts meet. Her lips on his.
Hickory watched smiling like an idiot takes out her phone and takes a picture "Oh my gooooooosh this is pure aaaah" she squeals delighted.

Toffee's face was crimson red once Lotil had broke the kiss, she too was blushing but had a satisfied smirk on her face "I believe that whatever plan you had in mind that required to have your skin melted off that arm of yours for half a wand shard had better be a well good one you crazed lizard."

Toffee adjusted his tie smirking back at her "Indeed I do, my dear. Indeed I do."

Hickory popped up in between the two Monsters grinning "Sounds good, but what exactly is the plan?" She questioned.

"Who are you exactly?" Toffee asked.

"Oh that's my friend Hickory, Hickory this is my boyfriend Toffee.

Hickory waved at him "Hello FeeFee" she announced.

Toffee scowled "Yeah, don't call me that."

"Too late, the nickname sticks" the hyena cat laughed.

"Sorry, she's known to be like that."

"I see."

All three Monsters eventually left the Monster Temple, Lotil convinced Toffee to come stay at her place since his home was in ruins at the moment. She guided the lizard towards the edge of a steep hill "Just down this hill, be careful it's a little steep" she warned him taking slow steps.
Toffee looked down the hill for a moment and followed Lotil's lead slowly making his way down the hill finally making it to the bottom he saw the large Willow tree standing at the center of the ditch next to it a river. Lotil smiled at him getting his attention towards her home, she unlocked a wooden door and opened it to the inside of the cave stepping inside.

"Nice place you got here" Toffee commented, glimpsing around.

"Yeah thanks, it was a bit messy at first but worth a little fixer upper it's in good hands" she responded dusting off some of her tables.

Toffee noticed a shelf of well aligned books the top shelf being about war or fighting tips, the second facts on different creatures and species in the area, and on the third shelf books of romance comedies. He grabbed one of the romance comedies titled: "The Pure Hearted and The Open Minded" which caught his interest looked it over.
"So, Lotil how long have you been living here?" He eventually asked, placing the book back on the shelf.

Lotil was on the couch "Well I don't a couple years, since I was like 18 probably" she shrugged.

Toffee looked over at her "Must have been a long time."

She nodded "It was difficult but I managed" the hybrid explained yawning "It's getting late I'm heading to bed."
She stood up from the couch grabbing a pillow and blanket from a cabinet and placing it on the couch, leaving into her room to change into her pajamas.

Toffee watched her leave for a second than come back in her green pajamas, sitting down on the couch he raised an eyebrow "You sleep on the couch?" Lotil looked up at him.

"Oh no I don't I have my own bed in the other room it's just since you're my guest I'll let you have the bed and I'll take the couch" she smiled drowsily.

Toffee gave her a look shaking his head "No Lotil I'm not taking you're bed you are i don't want you sleeping on a hardened couch" he declined the offer.

Lotil huffed "Well I don't want you sleeping on a hardened couch either Toffee, of neither of us wants the other one to take the couch than what do we do?" She regretted the question.

He smiled "There is one option, we could share the bed like before" his eyes were half lidded.

Lotil blushed at the idea "I don't know...the bed isn't that big" she looked away from him.

Toffee rolled his eyes picking up the exhausted hybrid in his arms bridal style making her yelp "Toffee! What are you doing!?"

The lizard's smile didn't falter, he went over towards Lotil's room and placed her on the bed and laid beside her covering them both up in the blanket. Lotil, tensed up but relaxed blushing lightly feeling his warmth next to hers, she cuddled up next him ignoring his smug grin Toffee wrapped his arms around her.

"Good night Lotil."

"Good night, Toffee"

Without another word both were fast asleep once again in each other's arms.
