The color that made you content.
The sun always shines through your room window in the early hours of summer. You are content of it, even though it gets frankly annoying sometimes. You like to sleep in and the sun never leaves you alone to do so. Your last resort was to buy curtains; very dainty maroon curtains. You thought, well maybe I'll be able to sleep now.You did sleep now, but too much. Those curtains blocked your only means of not being late to hangouts or appointments. It blocked your contentment when you finally woke up, you felt dragged on by the hours because the warm sun never got to greet you first, but the lousy curtain did. You grew sick of the curtain now, but why would you even put it up in the first place? You wanted to sleep in, right? You got what you wanted and now complaining is not optional. Deal with it.
But you couldn't. You always woke up with a droned groan, tired eyes and melting skin from feeling like jello. Why would you do this even though the sun was your source of happiness? Why would you block it out because it made a few mistakes? Because now this curtain is making more mistakes than you anticipated. You didn't even anticipate mistakes, you thought this was the solution.
You were wrong.
You were so wrong. You felt ashamed for blocking out the sun. It was so bright and warming but you blocked it away. You shoved it away. You tore down the curtains and let the warm sun embrace you. You felt alive, warm, free, happy.
The sun is a metaphor.
You whispered to yourself. "The sun is you, my love."
