Frens 4ever, except Oof
Of course, Draco ate with the trio every day from then on out. He was more friendly with them in classes, and even started long, heated debates with Snape when he deducted points from Gryffindor for no reason. Because, ya know, any reason to pick a fight with Snape was a good reason to pick a fight with Snape. But mostly because, well, Harry was pretty damn adorable, wouldn't you agree?
Especially when he got nervous. He would always bite his lip when he was nervous, which was just - oooooooohhhh. His hair was irresistibly messy and soft - like a Persian cat's. On more than one occasion, Draco had walked up to Harry and ran his hand through his hair, making Harry blush and stutter and smile. It was the cutest thing Draco had ever seen in his life.
It was on one such occasion that the worst day of Draco's life occurred.
He walked up to Harry, who was standing in the hall, waiting for him and Hermione and Ron... but mostly him. He ran a hand through his hair, grinning as Harry's face got all red and happy. Ron acted all uncomfortable, which he always did; Ron seemed like the kind of straight guy who was so uncomfortable in his sexuality that just seeing gays (ahem: a flirtatious bisexual and a Totally Not Gay victim of the bisexual's affections) interact made him uncomfortable. Which didn't really bother Draco, because it wasn't like he cared about anything anyways. Hermione just rolled her eyes, because Hermione was Like That. She was the kind of girl who'd actually snitch on people for PDA. Or at least, she acted that way. Draco didn't think she was really a snitch, though.
And then everything happened everywhere at once. Something exploded, and Draco went blind for a few seconds; he reached for Harry, because he could feel him, he knew where he was. He coughed, and his ears rang, and he just blinked and blinked and waited to be able to see.
When the fog cleared, there was Draco's reckoning, the one that he'd been waiting for.
Fenrir Greyback.
