Apparently I'm a Demigod
I screamed. Yeah. Not very demigodish of me, huh?Riley and Khanna exclaimed simultaneuosly, "That's so awsome!"
Then Riley added, "Uh... what is a demigod?"
Blond girl, Mexican dude, and Charlie: *SIGH*
I knew what a demigod was. My dad majored in Ancient Greek and Roman stuff in college (like it ever did him any good) and I had spent most of my childhood poring over our big book of ancient greek myths. Maybe he was trying to prepare me. Huh.
I knew all of the Greek gods and goddesses, and what I had concluded was this:
Demigod truth #486: God=superhuman idiot.
(Please don't kill me, Zeus)
"So... they're real?" I asked. The question was mostly to the blond girl. She looked like her mind was going a million miles a minute. She narrowed her eyes and looked closely at me.
"You might be one of Athena's," she said. "Yes, the Gods are very, very real"
"Athena," I mumbled, "Goddess of Wisdom and Battle."
"Yeah." the blond girl returns.
Charlie and her mom talk for a little while on a bench. I can't hear what they're saying. The Mexican guy talks the whole 'demigod' thing over with Riley and Khanna. I sit a few feet away from the girl with gray eyes on another bench. She seems to have other things on her mind, so I stay quiet.
Monsters and all-powerful gods. My life is really gonna change.
