Tragedy
I woke up one morning to find Maria sobbing. "What's wrong?" I ask. Maria shakes her head."I sent a bluebird to check on your parents, but it came back with saddening news!" Maria wails.
The hair on my neck stands up. "W-what's the news?" I ask, even though I'm assuming the worst.
Maria fans her face. "The evil spies are upset that you've escaped, and they set off a bomb in your hometown! An atomic bomb! I'm afraid that the chances of your parents surviving are very slim."
My eyes fill with tears as I lean against Terra for support. "No, that- that can't be true."
Maria nods, sadly. "It is, Matilda. I'm so, so sorry."
I squeeze my eyes shut. "We have to go there. We have to save them. We must get revenge!"
